only my friends stranded at there. lol
i have been there few times. not bad la. got alot palm oil trees+nike bugs.

i stayed in restu for 3 years lo. never met any nike bug. but my poor girl coursemate kena her face. ouch! pretty face kena.
now i stay outside usm for 2 years liao. hehe.

hmmm. not to condemn nurse or what but a university lecturer's job prospect is much better.
and most important thing is you can become a university lecturer no matter which course you are taking. The more important thing is a PhD degree which is AFTER your undergrad degree.

so now, ask yourself. Which subject you are most interested in? Even in nursing you still can become a lecturer.

Hmm. Do you even know what is "educational field"? I found out most pre-u students are very ill informed regarding the study of PhD.

the answer is no. you dont need to work as school teacher first before you go for your phd. but the problem here would be you have no experience in teaching, how to teach the future teacher to teach?

One of my friend is going to start his phd in educational field as well, slightly different as he wish to deal the with educational part more. he already finished his masters and is now going to a secondary school to teach for a year. The purpose is to make sure he actually experienced what the teacher is going through before he can proclaim himself to know something about education. (btw, his undergrad is physics and has nothing to do with education.)

So if you really want to become specialized in TESL (or TESOL), you can just go ahead apply for TESL directly and further your study in that field. Or you can just study a degree in English which will work as well.
