Hi peeps i purchased my biostar tpower i45 board just before crimbo and i'm having issues...

My specs:

Q9550 c1 stepping
tpower i45 board
4gb of gale 1066 5,5,5,15
4x 500gb harddrives all 7200rpm
8800gts (overclocked at bios level) to gtx standards
Zalman copper spread fan with heat pipes (mid range i expect!!)
Storm 700w modular psu, with 25 amps on the 12v rail x 3 with watts read out (180-250 watts average under load)

Here's the problem..... vmad.gif

Ram yes ram again... sweat.gif

i cant get this ram to run at 1066 ...what am i doing wrong?

Ive tried the bridge at *1333* with the ram at 800mhz with a voltage of +0.500 to bring the voltage into the recommended 2.5v

then ...

I went to increase ram only to find the BSOD of doom or blank

Ive tried having the ram at slacker timings but that didn't help

The highest i've got the ram to go was 990mhz or near at an overclock of 390 x 8.5 on the cores and speed step enabled...does not seem to make a difference if its on or off it still steps? (strange!!)

Then i tried whipping the FSB to 1500 or there about... this only got the ram to within what i had already..

Should i change to 4 sticks... "as i can have them replaced by shop??) but with dominator 4 x 1gb 8500 (i cant be assed to go without my pc for a week while it arrives)
Shit thing being.. that he reckoned they tested my bundle at 1066, benched overnight... same bundle that got sent out to me after...how is this poss?

Question... rclxub.gif

Am i being to much of a fanny and not pushing it far enough..and why is the ram hard to run at its clocked speed? as in 1066.
I didn't spend 80 English on ram, to have the same standards as 800mhz, (i can lower the timings to 4,4,4, 12 at 800) but it seems to perform well at this level, beating everything in Everest, bar the 8x xeon 53*** yet gets weak at 900+ at standard timings... shocking.gif

Also at 3.5ghz it boots into vista 64 ok but with shit ram setup...i'm getting frustrated as i just want the ram to gel with the fsb to get the sweet spot..

The ram is 2x 2gb (do the slots make a difference?) EG slot 1 and 3 etc

Apart from that it runs nice and i get sick performance in gaming running crysis at max settings with no lag on an 80 pound card...i cant believe it myself lol...but it does...you want good min fps get a quad it really does kick physics butt...lol rclxms.gif

so any help would be good....also what threshold would you say would be safe for the ram as the yellow and red warnings are a little weak in the bios...or can i go higher without risk of killing.. like say 1.xx + or is that fatal on middle of the range cooling.. icon_question.gif

Thanks guys this thread is handy and informative.... just wish there was more about the q range from intel...

shaun2k

PS if you have a territec sound setup you can kiss it goodbye... cuz the board hates it, and it makes some nasty sounds ...lol with no change to the PCI clock either...tut

Erm i going to install RAID 0 on my I45 tomorrow. But during window installation, do i need to install additional driver?  I cant find any sata RAID driver for the installation process. The window to be install will be Vista 64bit.

i tink it all depends on how far u're looking to achieveee
if u want to OC "keras" up to 600fsb lik on dual cores
that would be near impossible i guess
(not that im assuming....but ive personally nvr heard of it)

minor oc still can go maaa
where else would u find a decent p45 clocker with such pricee

Go with TRUE + 2x120mm fan in push pull biggrin.gif
Or CCF will do the job as well
If you want liquid cooling, minimum price would be US$150 or so to get a decent set
