E71-2 is for US where the 3G band is different compared to here. Which means if you buy E71-2 & use it here, you will not be able to use 3G feature

I got an AP set but it only has english and vietnamese language. Is this normal for an AP set?

is it possible to bring it to flash it to the English/Chinese version?

Also the IMEI of my phone is not the same iwht the box... What makes?
*
Yes, depending the warranty is from what AP company, you can actually bring back to the service centre to flash it to chinese firmware.......for FREE!

Yes, for AP set, the IMEI on the phone & on the box will not be the same as they import the boxes separately from the phone

QUOTE(Edoras @ Sep 29 2008, 05:23 PM)
thanks, eye! That's good enough reason for me to buy E71... :-)

I saw an AP set cost about RM 1450, is this cheap enough?
*
You can get about 20-30 ringgit cheaper in LYN forum but if you are buying from the shop, then it is a acceptable price smile.gif

Right click on the PC Suite setup software, click properties, go to compatibility tab & tick "run this program in compatibility mode for windows 2000"

& then install it

guys..i've a problem...it seems that i kenot send and receive mms or connect to my email account. i already activated 3g services and can do video call...only mms and email that piss me off..somebody ca help me sad.gif
*
For MMS, you have to go to messaging > setting > Multimedia message & see whether you are using the right access point. For example, if you are using Maxis/Hotlink, it should be Maxis 3G MMS.

For, e-mail it is more related to your configuration etc...difficult to explain without knowing what e-mail you are using etc...

when my e71 autolock i got this big lock image at the screen.. it doesn't before. it happend after i reboot my phone then it comes out. i don't know what else to set to make it dissapear unless i disable autolock which i need it. is there anybody got same problem with me? i don't have any 3rd party app installed. Help plsss...
*
There are 2 types of autolock
- Keypad autolock
- autolock

You are using the 2nd one which requires you enter security code each time you access your phone.

Go to setting > general > security > phone & sim > & set keypad autolock period to whatever time you want & set autolock period to none

hello guys,

I've got the taiwan version of the phone... does anyone know how to change the firmware to the malaysian version? basically the pinyin input is really irritating since i don't read it tongue.gif

cheers
*
you will need:

- NSS
- E71 APAC product code
- NSU

It didn't work sad.gif I used NSS, Singapore code and NSU. Result: "no updates available". Firmware version is up to date but it's still the taiwan version with pinyin input as alternate sad.gif

Am I doing something wrong?
*
If the singapore version of E71 firmware is equally latest to taiwan version, it will give the option to re-update your firmware. If it doesn't give that option, it means the taiwan one is newer than the singapore one.

I suggest to look for APAC code & not singapore one. Or worst case scenario, you need to wait for future release or go back to the service centre of your phone (usually will be free to update to chinese version)

NSS = Nemesis Service Suite (a software which is used to change product code & flash phone) nod.gif

actually, i try using Opera Mini on my E71, but everytime it uses EDGE to connect even though I have scanned Wifi connection and already connected. I can only use WLAN when after scanned for wireless I straight enter with Nokia browser. Honestly, I think Nokia browser is an equally good browser cos so far no problems. Opera Mini is just another browser of similar standard but more widely promoted.
*
Opera mini is a good browser for basic web surfing. I like to use it especially when I am viewing a super long webpage (usually applicable for LYN when I am reading a thread) It has keys to jump up & down faster which default nokia browser does not have.

Another thing is whenever I am replying to someone using the fast reply below, the Nokia browser sometimes will have problem where it just doesn't process after I press "add reply". So when I refresh my browser, whatever I typed will be erased. It is a little annoying (I know that the contents can be copied before I refresh, but then it is annoying too). I do not have those problems with Opera mini. It is a good browser.

But then when it comes to playing youtube or flash movies etc, Nokia browser is 100% better than Opera Mini

anybody had thier E71 fail to load the "Menu" ? Sometimes when i press the Menu , the screen does not change, it stays on the Home screen
*
Yeah, I used to have that problem often when I newly bought my E71. I suspect there may be some application clashing & I 100% formatted my phone (including formatting the memory card). Since then I do not have such problem.

well, i'm gonna make a list before i start a new thread la. so if anyone got suggestion or recommendation as to Symbian or e71 resources. Do share and post here. I'll start with one, CCam is a good software for image capturing instead of using the native camera software. And no shutter sound which makes it discreet when you're cam-whoring without anyone noticing.
*
I have tried CCam.....It is not a good option as it doesn't support autofocus.

seriously, if we discuss, everything has its pros and cons, there's no autofocus on it yes but it silence up the irritating shutter sound. And there's no point saying its good or not. Honestly, if u have a better software do share here instead of just giving your honorable personal opinion and in then we're still stuck with CCam and u can go on and on about its cons but it takes us nowhere better than the position we're presently in. No offence man, but I'm trying to shortlist all good and recommended programs/software for E71 users to begin a new thread rather than discuss about the program itself. Let those who haven't try it get their hands on it at least until a better software can be found. Agree?
*
Well, you are the one who seems to be offended instead of me sweat.gif

What is the point of taking blurry photos? doh.gif

Better way - (1) crack your phone to off the shutter (2) plug in your headset & take photos. Sound will go thru your headset.

Conclusion - CCam is a BIG NO NO for autofocus phones....

Yes, the old E-series, mainly the predecessor E61i is quite bulky, but you have assurance not jus from me, but from everyone in this thread, it is slim, solid, edgy, stylish, sleek, professional, lightweight, attractive..... and erm, let me add in "gaya, power, cun, mantap, segak" and watever complimentary terms that u can find to describe it.

U gotta hold it to love it, and love it to use it, and use it to feel it, and feel it to buy it, and buy it to understand it, and understand it to appreciate it.

But one thing, if touchscreen and good camera is your preference, then don hold, don love it, don use it, don feel it, don buy it, dun understand it, don appreciate it and ultimately leave it alone.

Not offende bro. Thats how i want it. Solution bro. Care to explain how the crack is done? And will it have negative effects on the phone?
*
To crack, there will be 2 ways:
1) use euro firmware for your phone. Once your phone in silent mode, camera shutter sound off too.
2) http://symbianism.blogspot.com/2008/05/sil...mera-sound.html

Both above is related to cracking your phone software. I tried & it worked very well (2nd one) but hv to do it under your own risk.

If you do not wish to do any cracking / hacking, then - use a headset when snapping photo nod.gif

Just tested the video recording on the phone. So far, the video seems good to be played back on the phone; but the audio recording is just superb.. really crystal clear. almost like my previous nokia n82. as for the QVGA recording, it does seem to be better than other phones' QVGA recording which seems pixelated.
perhaps the E71 is using a N82 or N95 video-recording chip which is downscaled to QVGA from VGA.  flex.gif
*
Are you using the latest firmware?

I just updated my phone to the latest firmware & tried the photo (not video).......the quality seems to be the same (no improvement) sweat.gif

Just double-checked, on the standard call-manager. i don't think u can check each particular call's duration, only the latest one.
sorry to tell u that, bro. maybe this phone don't suit u after all?
*
Actually can. Go to log, then press right & you can see a list of all incoming/outgoing calls & smses. Just click on a specific call & it will show the duration smile.gif

i think its a need.. called maxis centre today.. they said its a new virus that send a sms to ur contact list without ur concern.. will finished off ur cr..
*
That is bullshit. They are blaming your phone but the actual fact is their sim card faulty. Looks like they let it to be so purposely. Actually for phone, you may not need AV. As long you are careful with what you are receiving via bluetooth & do not install softwares from unknown sources, it will be fine smile.gif
