Just came across this forum in LYN.. I started skateboarding because of covid (encouraged my kids to take up waveboarding and then graduated to a skateboard).
I bought a cheap complete skateboard, and I wanted to share with anyone who is thinking of doing it, you can, but I would recommend highly you invest in changing the bearings immediately. I used the standard no brand ones (I bought a puente complete skateboard from shopee) and then recently switched to spitfire classics. the smoothness is like night and day.

btw, I also wanted to ask, are there skateparks that would cater to beginners like me (and my kids) in the PJ area? Wanna at least be able to carve on flat ground and learn to pump a bit.
I've tried the pump track in BU7 (which is totally not beginner friendly whatsoever and to be fair is a bike pump track) and also walked past the skate area in 1U. The one in 1U looks kinda decent, but wanted to see if anyone else had suggestions. I know about Shah Alam and Putrajaya skateparks but those are kinda far hehe....

QUOTE(kazukimy @ Jun 12 2023, 12:36 PM) Hi all, was trying to get skateboard as the last mile transportation from LRT to office. Was wondering, do I just get the complete skateboard from Decalthon or from the skateboard shop? If from skateboard shop, which shop do you all recommend? in klang valley. below RM300..... Zone5 is like one of the OG skateshops and their prices seem pretty decent. I previously bought my bearings and also a complete deck from there before. Can sometimes get below RM300 but if you can stretch to RM350, definitely can get some good clearance stocks. Here's an example: https://shopee.com.my/-CLEARANCE-Darkstar-M...ce-f4b6f9897d57Having said that though, if you want to use skateboard as last mile transportation, how confident are you to skateboard? Learning how to skateboard vs being confident / good enough to take the skateboard on roads quite different. also, what kind of terrain is that last mile? if it's bumpy and all, perhaps considering a cruiser board with soft wheels may be a better bet. Hopefully this helps.
