Ok here's my story.
I have 2 monitors, and one of it is a Dell U2312HM monitor that gives me headache for past few months.
If I remember correctly, the problem starts around February this year, and since I can't figure out whats wrong with it, I just plug it out and keep it under my desk, until last month.
I try plug it in, and it works without any problem.
Then last 2 weeks, the same problem attacked. The monitor was blacked out (not standby), not even a light on the power switch.
It was detected in system (Radeon Display properties, Windows Display settings), and I can even move things cross from my other monitor.
When I plug in the cable slowly, I hear the 'electric charge' sound which probably saying that there's a power from my cable.
Tested the cable with my other monitor, PCs. Tested with the existing working cable with the monitor, no go.
Then I brought the monitor to a PC shop, apparently the technician was not there, only an Ah So, whom tried plugging in my monitor to one of her empty cord.
And suddenly, my monitor can be turned on. I decided to buy 1 cable from her, tested there and bring that cable back home.
It continue to works until today.
Same problem, screen was black and no lights on the power button, no standby signal whatever. It still existed in the display setting, still can drag other window crosses to it, but it black.
I try with some other extra cables at my home, but this time I dont want to waste money buying a new cable. I can sense that this must be another problem.
So, I hope you could give me some idea what actually had happened to this monitor. I am from Melaka, but if I cant find any solution here, and if its worth to bring it to you, so be it.
