New Blu-ray Release of 300 ConfirmedWarner Bros. At the Saturn Awards earlier this week, Collider.com managed to get an interview with producer Mark Canton, who worked as the producer on '300'. During that interview, he confirmed that they were working on a new Blu-ray release for the film. Given past information from Warner, we expect this release to be called '300: Limited Collector's Edition' and to be released later this year.
When the film was initially released for Blu-ray, it lacked some picture-in-picture functionality that the HD DVD release had. We expect that this new release will restore that functionality as well as introduce new special features.
Even around the time of the initial release, Deborah Snyder, wife of '300' director Zack Snyder, mentioned that a new Blu-ray release was forth-coming.
No technical specs or special features were revealed at this time, but expect to see more soon.

The Godfather trilogy officially announced for Sep 23HOLLYWOOD, Calif., June 30 /PRNewswire/ -- More than three decades after they won the Academy Award® for Best Picture, director Francis Ford Coppola's classic films The Godfather and The Godfather, Part II will once again be enjoyed by audiences as they originally were meant to be seen, thanks to a meticulous restoration by Paramount Pictures, overseen by Coppola himself. On September 23, 2008, both fully restored films will debut on DVD and Blu-ray, along with a newly remastered version of The Godfather Part III, to be included as part of The Godfather, The Coppola Restoration Collection. All three films will be available individually or in a five-DVD collection or four-disc Blu-ray collection, which are loaded with a host of all-new special features.
The Godfather and The Godfather, Part II underwent extensive frame-by-frame examination and restoration utilizing state-of-the-art digital technology in this historic preservation effort, which required more than a year to complete. Robert A. Harris of the Film Preserve supervised the restoration under the direction of Coppola and cinematographer, Gordon Willis. Harris' restoration credits include Lawrence of Arabia, Spartacus, Vertigo and Rear Window among others.
The new special features created by Kim Aubry, founder of Zoetrope Aubry Productions, explores the complexities of the restoration process and provides new insights and perspectives about how the film almost didn't come to pass as we know it. "The Masterpiece That Almost Wasn't" relates the unlikely events, intrigue, allegiances and luck that put together the unknown director with the "unwanted" cast and contains interviews with most of the living players and many of the films' admirers. Other featurettes include " ... when the shooting stopped," and "Godfather World," which take a look at The Godfather's influence on popular culture today. Each film includes a commentary by Coppola.

The Adventures of Robin Hood Comes to Blu-rayWarner Bros. Warner Home Video has announced that they are bringing the 1938 Academy Award-winning film 'The Adventures of Robin Hood' to Blu-ray on August 26th. The film was initially released in high definition on HD DVD, and this is one of the Warner "make-up" titles that is finally making its way onto Blu-ray.
The film was one of few in the 1930's to be shot in Technicolor, and Warner has used its patented Ultra-Resolution process to capture the colorful images. Video will be presented in 1.37:1 1080p VC-1 accompanied by a mono audio track on a BD-50.
Special features for this release include:
* Commentary by Rudy Behlmer * Intro by Leonard Maltin * Newsreel * Freddie Rich and His Orchestra * Katnip Kollege (Presented in full 1080p HiDef) * The Adventures of Robin Hood (selection only) * Welcome to Sherwood: Story of the Adventures of Robin Hood * Glorious Technicolor [1998 TCM documentary] * A Journey of Sherwood Forest * Robin Hood Through the Ages * Robin Hood Daffy (1958 WB Cartoon - presented in full 1080p HiDef)) * Rabbit Hood (1949 WB Cartoon - presented in full 1080p HiDef) * Breakdowns of 1938 (1938 Short) * Cavalcade of Archery (1945 WB Short) * The Cruise of the Zaca (1952 WB Short) * Splitting the Arrow Galleries * Music Only Track * Erich Wolfgang Korngold Piano Sessions (audio only) * Radio Broadcast Robin Hood Radio Show (audio only) * Outtakes * 13 Trailers

Warner Blu-ray Collector's SetsWarner Bros. Continuing their never-ending crusade to occupy the majority of your Blu-ray rack, Warner Home Video is issuing more "Ultimate Collector's Edition" Blu-ray box sets this fall. Our good friends over at The Digital Bits have the scoop on which titles made the cut, and which we're going to have to wait a little while longer for.
First up, while not necessarily a "Collector's Edition", the upcoming Blu-ray release of 'Band of Brothers' will come in a case identical to that of the previous DVD release. As one of the best designed DVD cases ever (up there with 'Lord of the Rings Extended Edition' sets), no one should be disappointed with that news.
Next, the upcoming Blu-ray release of 'JFK' will come via Warner's infamous digibook "coffee table" packaging. No word if the massive DVD set will also come in Blu.
'Casablanca' also gets the "Ultimate Collector's Edition" treatment on Blu-ray, with 40 minutes of special features, 2 feature-length commentaries, branded travel-related collectibles, and a photo book. No word if the film will also see a digibook release, but I'm guessing that it will.
Even though it was just released on Blu-ray, 'I Am Legend' will also get the box set boost featuring a ton of collectible items in fancy packaging. As this title is already available on Blu-ray, don't expect another single-disc release like the previously mentioned films. Those who do throw down the cash will get all new special features including a new filmmaker commentary and deleted scenes.
Another recent film get the "Ultimate Collector's Edition" treatment in '300', but not this year. Warner is working on the BD-Live version of this film and it won't be ready until 2009. But, when it does arrive, expect to be treated with all the previous extras and two new documentaries ("Recreating the Spartan Era" and "300: Legend Filtered Through History, Graphic Novel and Film").
Finally, 'A Christmas Story' will get the box set treatment, packaged in a cookie-tin of all things. Again, this title has already been released on Blu-ray, so don't expect another single-disc release.
None of these titles has been officially announced yet, so expect full specs and details to be released soon.source : blu-ray.com
