Man they really take malaysian's for fools.

236is sounds like an old a/d/s/ model. Unik (M) onced appeared in the newspapers for being raided by the authorities in their warehouse/premises in Johor. Check out the china ADS at http://www.adst.cc/ for similarity with VSL products. They even copy designs of other amps like Brax.

The real a/d/s/ from the states can be viewed here. www.adst.com

Sadly, Kenny Sia does not know anything about car audio. wink.gif cool.gif

but then i just wanted to know is VSL 236is worthy to get.price i ask is Rm400 icluding installation.

when compare to A|D|S 236is . origin of the speaker.
coz their name is the same,so maybe i think they buy over it or they OEM it.

consider copy, ppl would not copy exactly everything including name right?

if they copy it thoroughly, they will be sued for counterfeiting the product
it's not the first time they copycat some products

2 years ago they copied ADS, 100%, got sued
now they come back with VSL, claiming its from USA, but apparently it isn't

remember the name, UNIK

just like how Lightning Acoustic copied Lightning Audio

Well it depends. We are just pointing out the unscrupulous methods they use to market their products. As educated and knowledgeable seasoned car audio enthusiast, like driftmeister etc., we are compelled to give warnings to fellow forummers so that they make a wise purchase. 'Most' uneducated retailers/installers will not bother tell you the truth. whistling.gif

If you, however feel rm400 for a counterfeit product sounds good to your ears and worth your time, go ahead but if you ask me... doh.gif lol.

I did a promo last month for genuine Focal Access 165A1 6.5" components. Only RM650. If you wait patiently enough for great deals, it will come.

I once did a clearance for MB Quart Discuss components, 6 months after the particular model has phased out. It was the last batch from factory and I sold them for only RM388. I sold 70 sets. Even when I wanted more after that, it was totally not in production anymore.

These deals come from time to time. However, when a model has phased out and you still see people selling them a couple of years later with plenty of replenishing stocks, you have to be very wary if these are real genuine items or just riding off its popularity.

Anyway, it is ultimately your choice. blush.gif

I met this VSL dealer from KL few days ago, this is what he told me about the history of VSL and a/d/s/ history.

a/d/s/ was previously made by its factory in China which also called ADS china, partnership with the chinese and Directed Electronics USA.

Then few years ago the american withdraw from this ADS China factory and gave up on the brand a/d/s/ due to the poor sales of this brand.

but, the brand a/d/s is registered in several countries under this ADS China, only that Malaysia, Singapore and Hongkong is registered under Directed Electronics USA.

UNIK S/B is the authorized dealer from ADS China, whereas PRO-ICE S/B is the authorized dealer from ADS USA (Directed Electronics)

so this UNIK sell this a/d/s/ China produts in Malaysia which offended the copy right Directed Electronics USA, and UNIK eventually get sued in the end BUT Directed Electronics USA DID NOT win the case because they couldn't prove the diffenrences between the produts of a/d/s/ china and a/d/s/ USA. Why they sue UNIK? is because thier dealer in Malaysia, Pro-ice carry alot of thier stock during that time and UNIK is selling alot cheaper!

Which mean both of the a/d/s/ is made in the same FACTORY!

During that period the same a/d/s/ speaker which sold by UNIK cost RM650, PRO-ICE cost RM1888.00!!!

VSL is what they use to replace the brand of a/d/s/ in the country like Malaysia, Singapore and HongKong after all, because Directed Electrnics hold the trademark registration of a/d/s/ until year 2011.

as Thaland, Indonasia, and the rest of the countries in Europe are all selling the a/d/s/ brand from CHINA ADS!

and this VSL dealer from KL who told me the above story is previously selling the "so called" original a/d/s/ from PRO-ICE SDN. BHD. too, he said that the speaker products of the USA a/d/s/ and CHINA a/d/s is 100% the same and even the sound quality is 200% the same.

so i guess this VSL brand is basicly a american technology product but made in china.

hopefully all above story is true, i mean who copy who? i really don know. a/d/s/ from USA is no longer selling it in the rest of the world because of the pricing, now this a/d/s/ china make it cheaper which allow people like us could enjoy its benefit n quality.

i mean y not give it a try? branded from usa doesnt mean is the best right?

just my super 2 cents. wink.gif

try to avoid sound sonic klang especially their workmanship (how do you expect a technician who do not know what is the difference of +ve & -ve to installing your car being call as sifu in the shop???). no doubt all the accessories shop need profit to make their living. happy purchase. and ICE poisioning.

So, it's time to make an arrangement with the VSL ppl to do a sound-check in relation to the so call ori a/d/s, it will be worth the $$ costing about one-third the price for a 'same' technical product. Have listened to a set of a/d/s component before & it's is one of those highly re-commended SQ smooth/clean sounding products.

Amp's capablity is not really measured by how many SW it can powers. There are many variables for consideration such as S/N ratio, damping factor, THD etc. However, those variables are only indications. Looking at whether the amp can produce clean signal at higher wattage without distortion is much more meaningful.

I'm waiting for it aswell.
Who cares if it's chap ayam or itik?the important thing is the clarity and whether it's reliable a.k.a tahan lama.atleast for me.

That is why listening preferences is diff from one to other, so subjective. You listen to it after installation, if it pass ur ears then ok la (how many will complain further after everything has been installed and waited for few hours?).

But I truly 100% support this "good stuff doesn't come cheap" laugh.gif .

why my version is so important? i never know what i say will have effect to others so much...lolz

as you guys said, listen to it, if it pass, then pass. But remember dun compare with others.....a lot here install ice just for "orang ade, i ade" kind of attitude. Then going to compare theirs with more expensive system which trying to shame themself...

I'm newbie here, yesterdat i just join this forum and i would like to ask any idea any suggestion better for my current set ICS setup? Isn't any VSL component set 6.5" for my front speaker comp set.
I been survey many component set for my front speaker and amplifier 2 channel or 4 channel, still dileema what to choose, ops really blur

Today i spend on boston speaker rm710 1set 6.5" comp set, rm435 6x9 3way boston 1set, debrez monoblock 2 channel rm910 and many other cable RCA, power cable etc waaaaa expensive, i want more budget lolz.
Now looking for 4 channel amplifier, and 1 comp set front speaker, and plan to change the sub 10" x 1 pair or 12" 1 pair, any suggestion?

sorry to say but the way u setup ur system sounds like SPL more than SQ. seems like the whole staging is at the back. normally for SQ setup, it's onli front + sub. and oso 6x9 + sub at the back will cancel off each other's bass frequencies.

Yeah i know 6x9 + sub will cancel off each other bass frequencies but i have pre-amp which can control / tune sound at rear n front speaker. Currently i i have 3 amplfier [which soon going to change / add 1 more amplier 4 channel]

I will try this setup in few more week; any sifue gv me any suggestion

4 channel alpine 320w - boston acoustic sx60 front speaker 6.5" comp set / boston acoustic s60 rear speaker 6.5" comp set ( which one set better at rear ? )
2 channel 270w - boston acoustic S953 S-Series 6x9"
2 channel 500w - maybe add 1 more sub at rear ? [12" subwoofer?]
2 channel Debrez Monoblock - mainly for subwoofer (planning to change Boston acoustic G5 12)

If the frequencies 6x9 still causing problem perhap i should put in front?

normally SQ setup dun use 6x9, cos they are disturbing to the staging, all kinda freq coming out from it. 6x9 is made for convenience of combining tweeter + midrange + sub. not sure if pre amp helps but i haven't know any SQ players using 6x9 for their system. dunno how u interpret a SQ system, but wat for spending money for rear speakers as it doesn't help abit in SQ system. combining the cost of S60, SX60 and the 6x9, i believe u can get PRO d. which in turns gives u much more satisfaction.

Today just change my HU to Alpine 9886 but the 3 pre-out [1 front speaker 1 rear speaker 1 for sub] the sub debrez monoblock cannot kick the woofer sound come out maybe i use capalang woofer gua. Sad !

Need to add PXA-H701 too add into alpine 9886 imprint sound =.=

In future change;

4 channel amplifier [prefer 80w x 4] 320w min i think alpine amp cheaper
Front component speaker [still consider which brand is better] maybe boston speaker
G15 Boston Acoustic Sub 12" maybe 1 pair or Kicker CVR 12" nice ma ?

as for the imprint, u just need PXA-H100 will do, H701 is to enable u to play 3 way active + sub. best to play with H701 is a HU dat has optical output but too bad ur 9886 dun have. keep ur system simple first till u learn more abt ICE, i feel dat u r just spending ur money without knowing much wat will it give u in the end.

as for the 4ch amp, depends on ur budget, try not to get cheap amps. it will ruin ur sound. subs, i would suggest Boston G5 if u can find the cirrect amp to push it. front speaker, u better go and audit more before buying any. dun just stick to 1 shop, explore around and join some TTs(teh tarik/gathering) to listen to other setup.

as far as owning a H701... i never come across it being a imprint processor... the imprint processor is the H650/H100... and SQ setup, have to remember 2 things:
1. less is more
2. KISS(Keep It Simple and Stupid)

and what i would do in your situation?
1st ditch everything i have at the rear board... its killing your front staging...
2nd a good 4ch amp and a monoblock is all you need for your setup...
3rd invest in a good pair of passive... preferably a bi-amp ones... if you are a diy person... diy one for yourself...
4th invest in good quality cables always ensures top quality sound reproduction... but good quality doesnt mean size... in fact its never about the size of the qire...
5th if your charging system is old already... be sure to be on a look out for a maintanance/upgrade plan... its worth every penny...

cheers!

aiya just bought the 9886 ka? wasted la, if i were u id look for 2nd hand 9835 or 9855

all u need in SQ is front components and a sub, if u want to play 3 way active, u need a 4ch amp for mids and tweets, sub amp for the sub, kautim

u can seal up the back board, acc shop can make a new replacement one easily

no need processor la, invest on good amp and speakers first
