My experience:

The only time I was taxed for my Play-Asia purchase was when the total exceeded RM500 (USD1xx++) and I shipped it using Courier service and not the free shipping.

Everytime I use free shipping, if item costs more than USD100++, never kena tax.

However, tax is depending on the Kastam that checked your item. Sometimes, they open (with giant Dilepaskan oleh Kastam chop) but no tax.

Once, when I bought my Gundam PS2 from a Japanese ebayer, kastam merely opened, dilepaskan and no tax... Despite the price of that Gundam was USD200 at the time....

However, your address and name may help. My shipping address is a Kementerian address in Putrajaya, heh heh heh....

i got 2 items that chopped "dilepas oleh kastam" on Sep 16 (PA shipped Sep 10)
but only received on Sep 25. probably due to Raya holiday.. postman balik kampung.

True, postman cuti raya lagi....

Or in my case, the mail room clerk took early Raya cuti, so the mail that came in on Thursday/Friday before Raya only got sorted and despatched today, 1 week after. True story.
