So that means you're pretty much SOL if you want to take your phone out of the country as well, it means you can't use it if you don't have coverage. Right now I'm using a Garmin Mobile 10x with my Palm, I can take it ANYWHERE as long as I take the maps, it has point of interests, and you don't need a constant internet connecting (i.e. use of google maps).

The Assistance Server can locate the phone roughly by what cell site it is connected to on the cellular network.
I'm sorry, but for routing, roughly doesn't cut it.
