not if you're in the woods without a cell phone connection. So that means you're pretty much SOL if you want to take your phone out of the country as well, it means you can't use it if you don't have coverage.

Right now I'm using a Garmin Mobile 10x with my Palm, I can take it ANYWHERE as long as I take the maps, it has point of interests, and you don't need a constant internet connecting (i.e. use of google maps).

And BTW, from the link you gave me:

The Assistance Server can locate the phone roughly by what cell site it is connected to on the cellular network.

I'm sorry, but for routing, roughly doesn't cut it.

well not every A-GPS require cell phone connection, not sure bout the iPhone 3G.

But i do agree that google map requiring constant connection will be a problem, hopefully Apple would allow 3rd party app to replace the google map.
