QUOTE(Omage007 @ Jun 11 2008, 12:25 AM) Selling for USD $199 only, I wonder Nokia/SE/Motorola got any same price range phone to fight with this new iPhone? $199 sounds cheap, but u have to look at the whole picture. Iphone has to be sold with contract of minimal 18 months. In US, AT&T has raised the price of the data plan from $20 to $30 a month. AT&T's profits will drop over the next 2 years because of their subsidy to Apple, but they expect to show gains by 2010. They should expect a large number of new customers with the new $199 iPhone. So Iphone 2.0 cost much more then just $199 USD. |

I'm not going to get the latest iphone -- i don't think its worth the money. One, it will be extremely difficult to get a hold off because of whole contract-deal thing. 2. the new features it talks about doesn't really appeal to me -- yes 3g, but if you're on a campus with wi-fi most of the time, who cares? And the GPS isn't even a real GPS, its ASSISTED-GPS -- I have a feeling it gets your coordinates from cell towers.
3. It doesn't seem as durable as the old ones, especially with the plastic casing. The only things that really appeal to me in the new iphone are 1. larger space -- 16 GB is godsend, I need more space!). 2. the earphone plug in isn't depressed like the stupid first iphone. Apps and the rest can be used with the old iphone with a firmware update, so I'll be all set. I'll wait for iphone 3.0. In the meantime, I'm saving up for my macbook air |

Another tempting feature of the new iPhone is the battery life.

QUOTE(Omage007 @ Jun 11 2008, 12:56 AM) No point for U and me to predict the price here, got a thread at the Garage Sales section >> http://forum.lowyat.net/topic/585325, months later then we will know. . . but of coz the launching price sure will be jack up a lot by those kaisu buyer coz the demand is over the supply, so I am taking about the [normal] stable price after 2 or 3 months. . . i wont go below rm1k.you have to understand that usd199 or the gbp99 price is on-contract price. with o2 uk, you will get the gbp 99 for the iphone 3g only with gbp 30 per month contract for 18 months. so do still think that you can go in, pay usd199 or gbp99 and walk out the shop, so that you can sell at lyn for rm1000 with abt rm300 profit? |

QUOTE(Fighteden @ Jun 11 2008, 08:17 PM) Is it cause Mac's not popular in Malaysia thats why Apple decide not to launch iPhone here? it is more likely that apple failed / no interested to strike a deal with any telco in malaysia. The sales figure not up to their par/expectation? besides we dont any apple store in malaysia as well. |
