QUOTE(callmevil @ Sep 5 2008, 06:56 AM)
wah. just trolled around this part of LYN and found this thread.. ok.. i guess im in the LDR boat as well.. but i think im more senior member of the boat..

been in my LDR (with the same person wink.gif) for 5 years edi.. she's been doing medical studies and is getting her doctorship in australia.. hopefully this would be her final year, before she have to stay another year for internship at some hospital there.. sighh she comes back for about 20-40days a year depending on hols period and schedule.. free MC soon~ hehe

wat i can say is, the first few months is the toughest, our hp was always soaking.. after that, the next few years was ok bit (supportive friends really helps), then around year 3-4 was the toughest period as both of us got really annoyed with the LDR.. but thankfully the storm didnt sink our retionSHIP (hehe geeky). after that phase was past, everything is veryy stable now.. smile.gif and we still talk on the phone Everyday. we update each other on whats going on in our life daily.. (e.g. just now i bought ice cream vanilla flavor.. haha yes little things also tell), i treat her as if she is right next to me when im out (e.g. i will send her sms when i see or think something when im out as if im telling it to her if she were to be right next to me). the hardest part of it all is to try and make the 'distance' invisible and not to mention costly! haha my fav line to her  that we still see the same sky.. still see the same moon, still get burnt by the same sun, so.. we cant be that far apart right? when she's upset about it is to ask her look outside to the sky, and i ask her to describe the cloud she sees, then (i know it makes no sense) then ill tell her to send silent wishes to the cloud to send it to me.. (lol its cheesy and lame but.. hahaha fu)

what ive learned,
at first i think saying goodbye at the airport would get easier through time.. but i was soo wrong.. trust me, it gets harder and harder each time u have to say goodbye.. sigh the last time (march) feel like want to pengsan..

its always a good idea to have rules set on each other and agree on mini punishment for every rule broken to keep the LDR interesting and challenging. living things relaxed/calm may be a good idea in the shortrun, but is very very bad idea if u want to keep ur ldr to last long.

u dont always have to be right (even if u know u are), compromise is sooo very important in any LDR.. so apologize or just give up sometimes (but not all the time cuz respect is important)

dont ever lie to each other. if u have to, then plz make sure she will NEVER EVER find out.. cuz once she finds out, then that history will remain in her mind, and when she has nothing to do, all alone, that history will manifest into a big fight.. so.. best not lie, but if u have to, DONT LET HER KNOW! (i know this is a weird advise but trust me). This goes the same to girls to.. (but please dont cheat on ur love ones)

post has more meaning than emails or any internet efforts.. send irregularly timed letters for no special occasion.. randomly i would call their local florist and have them send over flowers (lilies & roses) to her apartment to surprise her.. this if done at the right time will give u 3 Stars beside ur name smile.gif but remember, not too often.

always ask how the other is doing and remember them so u wont miss a thing..

wah typed too much.. haha got moreeee advise but.. im not even sure anyone is willing to read that much at 7am! lol

ive consult several ppl about relationship probs.. 3 of those are resulted in engagement, 2 in marriage.. so if anyone needs any advise, feel free to pm or msn or wtv.. smile.gif

what saved my bordem when she's away is going hardcore in MMOs - Ragnarok (2yrs - hold honglou for dunno how long), then World of Warcraft (3yrs - cleared naxxramas and killed muuru before hang my hat)
good luck in ur LDRs~~~ remember, u dont have to wait for them to make the first move smile.gif

The platelet is still low. So, I am still under medication. It is going to take some time to rise.

There are a lot of successful LDR around the world. Last year, we found a survey that stated LDRs have a higher successful rate than SDRs. It depends on the individuals, really.

As for me, yes.. I failed my first LDR. 3 months into LDR and she went off with another guy. Currently, doing another LDR and we're doing well at the moment. What's more, my brother is doing well in his relationship as well. They're engaged and preparing for marriage either next year or year after next.

I'd say commitment plays a big part too.

Justin, do you inform your gf? How your gf actually react?
*
Yes, she knows about it. She's fully supporting me, though she's so far away.

Just that I'm down by myself, disappointed.

Why so boring? You escape from admission already, you should be happy. biggrin.gif

Btw, Justin, do you have some christian song to download?
*
Ah, you read my blog! rclxms.gif

I am extremely happy but bored at home.

Christian songs ah... not at the moment. My bro bought the latest Stream of Praise album, very nice. You should look for that. Recommended. drool.gif
