For the 'lagging' in Garmin, try this

Settings->Map->Show Location->At GPS Location

then see how well it works out for you.

Well, a lot of normal people can't get used to using Windows Mobile and the shock drives them to sell the phone.

and yes, flashing a custom rom will void warranty. but a person who doesnt flash their device isnt enjoying the true joys of having a pda. u can restore spl, and bootloader screen all to restore warranty no problem also anyway. make sure u hard-spl before flashing. if u really really dun know how, i can do it for u, as well as restore spl and bootload for warranty purposes too

It's great that you enjoy installing differentt rom distros, but please don't make it sound as if a normal user HAS to do it in order to use the Diamond properly.

MMS uses the data line to send out the message, for all intents and purposes MMS is technically... email for hand phones tongue.gif

@Baronic : brick a few phones then talk to me again about the joys of flashing and modding a pdaphone.

first you need to get a port converter to convert the usb port to an audio plug (price varies depending on you getting the HTC branding one or chapalang one) then just get a standard stereo mini jack cable.

you can either go for one that only converts it to audio and looks something like this.

or one that permits headset usage as well.

pretty sure i saw the 3 in 1 available here.

Guys, Anybody got a better option to do this?
1. Typing SMS and inserting a person contact number from the Contacts.. Have to copy the contact number from contacts first and then open write sms to paste the number.. Any better way like importing from contacts.. (i noticed that we have insert options but can only insert Picture/Video, Audio, vCard, vCalender, Attachment)..
2. If someone sends a contact number thru a SMS, we cannot call/save the number in the SMS straight away... Have to Edit the sms, copy the number then only save.
3. If an unknown contact send you and sms, you cannot save the number into the contacts like add to contact.. you have to do manually..
Anybody got a better way to do all these?
*
1 + 2 i'm not sure.

3. when you're reading a message in the inbox app (not touch flo screen) tap on sender's name in the from field and you'll be given the option to save to contacts.

1. SMS delay. few SMSs came in one shot while phone is idle and with MAXIS coverage.
2. Miss call notification from MAXIS while phone again idle and with coverage.

Am I the only one having this problem with TD + MAXIS?

thanks.
*
It's Maxis. I just called them a few days ago complaining about they recent service quality
they told me they are 'upgrading their systems to handle the influx of customers once number portability began'
I wanted to say 'aren't you just given your customers a reason to leave Maxis then?'

Symptoms i've been getting
- dropped calls
- late sms
- missed calls
- called but other side cannot hear
- EDGE doesn't work but 3G does

a whole load of problems!

Activesync problems, make sure your firewall has an exception for the activesync/windows mobile device center program.

simple way to check if anything is actually wrong during connection
start->settings->connections->usb to pc->uncheck enable advanced network functionality.

this will let activesync connect without using network, it's slower but the firewall won't stop it.

i know that.. what about the performance? easy to get disconnect? or better than streamyx ar?

Depends on your telco, which location you're in, how many people around you also using data connection.

not always better than streamyx performance wise, but better in the sense that you can go online almost anywhere.

Make battery life longer?

Turn off 3G if you're not using it. Saves a ton of power if you're in a 3G weak area.

Hi all,
I plan to get either HTC Diamond or Samsung Omnia as my next phone.
HTC Diamond looks good.

What are the current specs I should look for?
*
Diamond, is small and easily pocketable. As long as you can deal with the relatively shorter battery life due to the small battery.

Omnia.. dont' have one so can't comment about it, I do have one comment though... ask the shop where does the stylus go then see if you can live with that... you'll understand why once you do it.
