Regarding the analgesia in labour, there are basically 3 types: epidural anesthesia, Entonox (gas), and IM pethidine (morphine). Epidural is the best as it offer good analgesia and in case of emergency C section, it can be used as the anesthesia intraoperatively. Entonox offer less analgesia compared to epidural but it is available easily. Pethidine also not so good because sometimes it can cause some degree of distress to the fetus.
