Just to share... I am posting this in the ward itself.

After more than 24 hours in the labor room, my wife just gave birth to my first baby boy at Gleneagles Ampang.

Surprisingly she handles the labor pain quite well. She seems cool and not much making noise even though the contraction chart is showing 50 to 90. Cervix didn't want to open, kept at 1.5cm for more than 18 hours till the water bag broke. Only then the cervix starts to open up. From 1.5cm to 10cm in 7 hours. She only took 1 injection (pain killer) at the later night cause couldn't sleep and some 'laughing' gas when cervix is at 8.5cm to 10cm.

Delivering the baby took about 45 minutes of pushing. Baby head didn't want to come out. She was about to go for emergency operation, but dr said use vacuum and try sucking the baby out first. Which he managed to. Only problem is baby head became quite long like a bullet shape. Dr said few days/weeks later the head will go back to normal. So much blood and blood smell. I saw the process of baby coming out from the below. Thought would pengsan, but lucky no.

After 2 hours from delivering the baby, she still can walk and go to toilet... I never knew my wife is that strong. Totally under estimate a super mummy. I am so proud of her.

Here are some of the photos of the:-

Labor room
-They have 8 labor rooms like this. Very spacious. Very comfortable. Brings the fear away.
-Mid wife's services are all thumbs up. Very supportive and friendly people.

Single executive room
-Very spacious. Very comfortable.
-6 meals a day. Many variety of food to choose in their menu. They change their menu daily. So you won't get the same food next day.
-They can let you put your baby next to you throughout the stay / put in nursery and bring him/her to you when baby needs milk.
-Gleneagles is a breast feeding friendly hospital. So they encourages breast feeding.

Now she is learning to breast feed the baby. Baby doesn't seem wanting the breast milk. I think he doesn't know how to suck on it yet. We will keep trying...

Baby is now able to suck better but at the expense of mummy's nipple.

1 nipple is sore liao, merah merah. Nurses say, technique is wrong. So now that side have to rest and sapu cream till it recovers.

Baby starts to get jaundice on the 2nd day onwards. It gets more serious everyday. So we had no choice but to admit him into hospital.

Since we are at my hometown (Muar), so we drove to Melaka. Lucky we admit him that day, cause dr said his blood reading for jaundice is getting quite high. And if higher by a little more baby needs to change blood. But since it is still average high, so dr said phototheraphy first.

Today he got discharged. Only done phototheraphy.

FYI, here are the charges for 4 days 3 nights stay for jaundice phototheraphy treatment in Putra Specialist Hospital Melaka.

Hospital Charges:-
Room Charges (RM147)
Nursing Charges (RM132)
Pharmacy (RM12)
Medical Supply (RM43.72)
Miscellaneous (RM3.50)
Instrument & Equipment (RM140)
Laboratory Services (RM140)
Admission Fee (RM10)

Doctor Charges:-
Consultation (RM90)
Procedures (RM200)
Professional Fee (RM600)

Grand Total: RM1618.22

I am currently having a bad confinement lady. Most likely going to terminate her early this weekend.

Reasons:-
-Hold baby one hand, use the other hand make milk. So dangerous. Tell her we help hold baby, she said nvm.

-Don't allow us to breast feed our baby until I got pist and tell her off. She replied, if you want you take the baby and feed him yourself. This made my baby now seems to reject his mother's breast cause he is used to bottle already. My wife is quite upset.

-When wife is trying to breast feed her baby, she came and take baby away and bottle feed him.

-She used pacifier without our permission.

-Baby eyes got yellowish thingi coming out. She used her hand to wipe it out. When asked her to use cotton, she said nvm.

-Baby got jaundince and we said we have to bring him see dr. She said nvm why go. Lucky I went, my baby nearly have to change blood because of her.

-She always say nvm to the things we suggest, but when she say things we must do.

-She wanted to feed baby herb / chinese powder. I said no, she keeps grumbling.

-At night 10pm, no more hot water for my wife to wash hand, brush teeth, clean face. She is either sleeping or watching tv.

Added on October 28, 2009, 10:22 amMy advise,

If you want to breast feed... tell the confinement lady before confirming her.

You can buy powder and pacifier for just in case, but hide it. Don't let her see it.

Get reference from people who actually had tried her. My mistake was neighbor's friend recommendation. Failed!

When my wife was pregnant, I was considering the "lo hong ka" bird nest product too... but after googling, I found out some mothers that took bird nest... the baby may have some allergic later on.

Some people feedback saying that with or without bird's nest, baby also not much different cause some didn't take it for their first baby but second baby take.

I was told...

15th day after the first day of period... best time for s3x. Do that consistently everyday for 1 week around that 15th day week, chances are high can get pregnant.

Also Chinese believes: For the girl, try not take so much cooling food/drinks if you plan to get pregnant.

My wife is currently 10 weeks pregnant as confirmed by a GP clinic.
Any good gynaecologist to recommend?
I would also like to know the breakdown of various cost and charges from day 1 of pregnancy to delivery.
Feel very lost right now, we not yet visit any specialist doctor or whatsoever as yet.
Anyone who can help or advise here?

Congrats smile.gif Lots of fun, happy, angry, anxious and challenging moments ahead... Not to mention less sleep, less time alone, less holiday... for the next years for you...

You can also try Primanora @ TTDI... quite a famous celebrity female gynae dato there. For normal checkup is at TTDI but delivery would be at Pantai Bangsar. That place is a 1 stop center for woman checkups other than pregnancy. They have 4D ultrasound facility too.

If you are thinking to go private for checkups and delivery, you have to prepare about RM10k to RM20k (counting checkups). No one can give you exact figure cause delivering a baby has too many variables. Eg. Normal delivery, Normal delivery + Epidural, Normal delivery + Vacuum, Normal delivery + Emergency Operation, etc etc etc.
