Hi, my uncle recently give me a guitar. He bought it i Japan during 60's while he working in Japan.
But the brand name seems fade off... can anyone tell me what guitar is this ?And what value of this guitar ?

Yea, just clean it up and keep it, don't play it.


There's no place to adjust action/intonation, I don't think you'll like playing this, not without some major mods.

Guya tone is a famous brand ? i think it is made in japan coz he bought in japan in 70's. It is more than 30 years old. The parts still can find in market ? Can renew all parts like new ?

They're probably more famous for their pedals nowadays; not sure about the parts tho, could be hard to find.

i guess you could fix all the replaceable parts easily, but the problem might be the guitar itself.
remove the strings, clean the body, try to remove the stains (is that blood betweeb saddle and pickup ?), then :
- refret the guitar
- change the machine heads (or pegheads) - it should be possible to put non-original ones, probably better.. (?)
- check the bridge. it looks like a fixed bridge ? is there any cavity at the back of the guitar body ? i don't understand what is the purpose of the hole between strings 1 and 2, next to the saddle.

then put new strings, and try to play it... then plug it in an amplifier, and see if the electronics are still up and running.

noo...dont clean the body...
without cleaning the body, the guitar looks more "experienced".
i mean, it will be like its signature...
a vintage guitar should have a vintage look...
hahaha...
probably changing the machine head and refretting the guitar will do...
not sure whether the machanicals inside still run or not is a problem though...
if it runs...you have a nice guitar... (depending on the sound quality though... )

about the model, its hard to identify since it's a "lost art"
try finding it in the internet

heard from ppl that this guitar can produce really bluesy sound, dunno if its true.

clean the guitar up, ppl want a good condition vintage guitars, not some guitar that have some "ant house" living inside

the guitar pickups look quite strange, possibly they might give a "different" sound.

clean it and frame it ; its a collection of 30 years the guitar is living

i'm really curious about how it sounds.

here are some very simple things to check (i'm not at all a guitar tech, but i don't know, sharing is always good ?)

1. clean and "feed" the rosewood fretboard with a special oil (i think lemon oil can do the job : let the fretboard absorb the oil completely). maybe you've done that already, i can't see if the fretboard is dry or not.

2. looks like you could fit a standard "fender" knob on that ?

3. what the hell is this hole for ? is it some kind of tremolo bridge ?

4. have you cleaned the grooves of the nut ? you might possibly need to change it, after 30 yrs, it would amazing if it can hold the pressure any longer.

seeing how that tailpiece is like...that hole most probably held a trem bar.
i would even take a guess that the middle screw behind the string's ends can be tightened to lock it.

oh yeah, i can see it now on the bridge close-up: it goes into the body, behind the cover.

But since there is no plate on the back (= no springs ??), i wonder how it works.

cos the plate is in front?
i guess underneath that tailpiece plate is the whole spring system or whatever it uses.

So you can't adjust the spring tension while your strings are set ? extreeeemely convenient

from the looks of the body..looks like a jazzmaster/jaguar copy...

no la...i surf once every few days in case some interesting guitar goes for sale.
sad to say last few months nothing interesting has appeared except for a gibson '61 reissue for RM4.5k.

but not bad...
from apparently not knowing about the guitars being pirated...
to now bringing in way more, and even offering custom options now...
i'll pass u one option and see if they can do it cheap.

i was wondering what the heck that random hole between strings 1 & 2 were until i realized it could be a b-string bender. Weird old fender idea meant for grassroots and country musicians. due to lack of populatity they're extremely rare nowadays.
I really doubt it could be an actual trem system, noting that the entire tailpiece is screwed down to the body.
