oh oh! my hd65 just konked out....got crackling/sizzling noise from inside...no light at all. SIGH

only about 60+ hours

synco, how long they take to fix and what they replace?

that's a bad smudge..must be annoying to see that on screen.

why don't you send back for service under warranty.

oh oh, strangely, my hd65 is working again since this afternoon and running for about 4 hours and no probs.

anyway, its officially dead this morning. cannot start-up and no light/sound at all.

will send it off tomorrow morning.

sent my hd65 on monday for repair and the techie later calls me to say nothing wrong-PJ working normally!!

there were 2 other hd65 there for repairs.

so went back next day to collect back and now set-up working again. no problems.

have now rechecked the electrical wiring, just in case, and adjust aircon to blow into it to ensure no overheating.

so now have to hope that any problems if any happen during warranty.

since did not have any physical damage and couldn't replicate problem, i suspect could be overheating problem - i tend to leave PJ on standby for long periods i.e. overnight which might be a cause.

anyway, just to be safe i now shut off power after using.

my unit also similar prob except that the 3 lights blinked and then shut off.

i used to leave my unit on standby but not anymore since the problem.

so far so god, no problems.

just go see a pj and you'll know which to get...

this is not common. maybe due to your movie resolution size, aspect ratio.

try another file and see.

the manual got projector screen calculator to make sure correct size and distance. anyway, you can now either reduce screen size or move the PJ back to the correct distance.

easiest to reduce screen size by making a black border around the screen.

wanna find out from those using hd65 with BD player (1080p movies), is there a significant improvement compared to watching 720p mkv movies?

have anyone thought of making an anamorphic lens for the hd65?

doesn't seem difficult to make from diy sites but the key is where to get the prisms locally? any ideas?
