Just found a perfect Video card for HTPC. Ati HD3450, Only around RM120. Perfect for DVI-HDMI output for 720p and 1080p. I think i'll get this and pair it up with my good ol' P42.8Ghz and I've got myself a low profile HTPC ready for HD65 kekekekeke.
*
I would advice that you go for normal Desktop HTPC. I had previously used low profile and the biggest issue is the power supply is non standard ATX PSU and second is due to the slim profile, you can't install 120mm fan. 80mm and 60mm is quite noisy. For HTPC, you want low fan noise.

For all who would like to calibrate their PJ or just any display, i found this site. http://www.w6rz.net/

The author has a thread in AVSForum

Can any guru have a look at it and show us noobies how to use it for calibration?

I have no idea how to use it hehehe.
*
You need colorimeter or spectrometer to fully utilize the test pattern. The basic one can only help you on brightness/contrast setting.

I am wondering myself,
if my room isn't too big, maybe can put up a max 60" screen.
if choose HD project, after the screen and setup up definately more than  RM15k
a Full HD 50" plasma also costs RM15k.
a Full HD 50" LCD maybe costs a little bit less.
What would you guy suggest?
*
Nope. 50" Full HD plasma I get it for less than RM 9k

RM300+  sweat.gif  Better send your own 'Starscream' to our Bolehland. J_Vansen_S did that.
How about the 'budget' Infocus X10 (1080P)? I personally auditioned it on last Sat. Its PQ is quite good. The colour is nice too. The drawback is its sheer size. Anyway, this is one handsome pj (for me, at least).
*
Too bad Benq is not selling W5000 in Malaysia. Personally I feel Benq W5000 is a better buy then Infocus X10. With dual iris, it is possible to achieve On/Off contrast around 9000:1 measured plus firmware ver 2.01, you can adjust the color through CMS. I'm itchy to import one unit from US with current price of USD 2050. Black level for X10 is not so good and so is the HD803. Currently this is the bang of the buck projector if you want DLP. Still prefer DLP due to max sharpness and no motion lack.

Anyone using BenQ? I think the price also  reasonable. cool2.gif

Too bad they stop marketing their HT projector in malaysia. I owned the PE7700 model which is quite good. Their new model W5000 is a DC2 1080p projector with dynamic iris and vertical lens shift. Firmware 2.01 added CMS control. So far, this is the best for low-end 1080p projector and price is around USD2k. Anyone willing to do bulk parallel import?

And can escape tax by declaring it as pc equipment tongue.gif . Only thing is the hassle if something happened to it. Just like SVS and Hsu Reserach sub. Darn good value for money
*
I have check with custom. No tax for projector. The only problem is a lot of vendor in US is not shipping outside US. Those that ship wouldn't confirm if the unit have the latest v2.01 firmware so I end up didn't get the unit from US.

Any news on local pricing for Optoma HD8200? This looks like a great 1080p projector if the price is below RM 15k. I was quoted RM 15k (before negotiation) for JVC HD350 but had some reserved on the color saturation and ansi contrast. Eager to replace my 3 years old projector.

RM15k for JVC HD350 seems to be a good price to start, shouldnt be a problem to get it lower than that. its a good price for that JVC
*
Yeah... comparable to US pricing. Only thing that holding me back is ANSI contrast is only around 350:1 and color saturation issue. Need to view a demo first but can't find any in Penang. Those selling AE3000 at RM 11k is damn expensive. Might as well get a HD350.

sell at lelong.com.my or mudah.com.my. I just sold my BENQ PE7700. Now need to make new bracket for my new BENQ W6000 as the throw distance is longer.

ok will certainly try there.. boss can u pm me your purchase price for w6000

I posted in another thread under W6000. No need to be so secretive. Previously I get special deal from Amazon for USD 2k + SGD 100 for vpost. No tax so that would be the total. Now all online retailer price is back to USD 2.5k. Another option for cheap and good 1080p projector is mitsubishi HC3800 at USD 1250. Not sure if you can get this price in Malaysia. Somehow 1080p projector in Malaysia is overprice.

Cause vpost is based in singapore. Amazon to VPOST USA is free and SG100 is for VPOST USA to Malaysia. If AE4000 you can get close to USD2k then it is a good buy. UK is selling around 2000 pound. Malaysia most likely will follow UK pricing.

He is selling for around RM 2.8k. I'm not sure if it is still available but a good news for those who want to use it for 3D gaming in pc with Nvidia Nvision 3D glasses. You just need to override the detected monitor type to Acer 3D projector EDID info as officially Nvidia driver support Acer DLP 3D projector but not Optoma HD66.

Better value than getting those 3D TV as I believe 3D tv will cost you RM 10k and above for 46" and 50"

Anyone try out HD67 at 120hz? I'm interested in getting a unit to try out 3D. Only problem reported by HD66 user is you can't turn off the white flash even if you turn off DLP Link in the menu. White flash is not needed for Nvidia 3D glasses, only for DLP Link glasses which kind of kill the contrast because of the white flashing.

Yeap. Damn expensive. Firehawk you can get from KL. Can't remember who is the dealer. I'm interested in Diamond II 1.4. If it can really increase ANSI contrast of projector around 50%, it is a good investment. I'm waiting for end user measurement for comparison between normal screen and diamond II.

You are using LCD or DLP projector? That is dust or hair that stuck in the light path. My old DLP projector had this problem after 1200 hrs usage. Just open up the projector and use the camera lens blower to clear the dust near the mirror and the DLP engine. You can clean up the DLP color wheel too which normally will develop a thin layer of dust but be careful not to break the wheel bearing.

Some LCD projector had a blow hole that you can use blower to "blow" out the dust. DLP kind of tricky cause even it's advertise as sealed path, sometime the gasket could be loosen and cause the dust and hair to go inside the DLP engine.
