I prefer SJMC... (Subang Jaya Medical Centre)
I admitted there twice because of dengue.. (Yup.. I got dengue twice..) So far I like the environment, services and the food sweat.gif LoL
They saved my mom from serious dengue fever, did her appendix operation and my little brother was borned there too tongue.gif

Based on my experience
---------------------------------------------
Comfortable Beds
Convenient Equipments
Hygienic Environment
Delicious Food (Somehow I really like the food there)
*Ahem* Nurse drool.gif (I was lucky...)
Television (Played my PS2 when I was bored but not sure they still have it or not)

Gleneagles KL is the best for me as the service quality and doctors are about the best in Malaysia and perhaps even in the region. Things have started moving very quickly there and I heard taht the staff train at the Ritz Carlton for hospitality training. There are some other good ones in Malaysia like Adventist in Penang.... smile.gif

I posted this in reply to the best cancer hospital in Malaysia (another thread).

"It is NOT the best hospital you should be looking for.

It is the competent doctor/specialist/oncologist who can treat the specific cancer that you should look for.

Which one is the best? I don't know. I know a few who have given very BAD advice to their patients though (and many of these patients are now dead).

Ask around, especially those cancer patients who are still ALIVE and WELL today."

Same advice applies.

As far as I know, SJMC docs are pretty good... But then the ones I always see are like the older generation ones (ie. past retirement age). SJMC isn't THAT bad. I think depends on who you're seeing. You're not there for the nurses or environment after all... er, i think anyway.

what is your measurement of best hospital.

1. pricing
2. infrastructure? - eg. facilities, rooms etc.
3. MOST IMPORTANTLY, DOCTORS. each hospital has a different number of good doctors specializing in their field. so u have to identify which one is which then only u will know.

For me its the Doctors, services and pricing in that order. There is also something unique that is the brand philisophy that is now part of healthcare. This is that something unique that is palpable and i feel Gleneagles KL has got the concept correct smile.gif . As far as I know, SJMC is more expensive but lacks the completeness. There is nothing more wrong than a bunch of people that are not interested in health and people that are empowered to take charge of lives. There are so many hospitals like that which (especially a so-called new 5-star hospital rclxub.gif) !! This is why we feel a little cheated at the lack of value...people should learn from Gleneagles ! But I must say I haven't experienced all and really don't want to rclxms.gif

KPJ seremban is expensive compare to other private hosp in N9 ie Columbia Asia and Senawang specialist Hosp(SALAM). BTW that Dome and wireless fee already in ur fee.. he.. he. For me the treatment that u get from doc are the most important thing.. the rest are accessory.

No true lah and also an unfair statement....the Gleneagles bill was cheaper than other hospitals in that category...we were quoted higher at two major different Klang Valley hospitals for the same planned surgery...doctors alone don't make up the total care in a hospital, nurses and technology are also important...those are not accesories and why should a patient not continue with their usual routines or business, isn't that important too! Hospitals need not feel like hospitals....Kudos to hospital that add value in this way..........

Hi,

Want share my experiences at Annur Bangi and Columbia Asia.

My wife, we think gastric at 2am go to Annur Bangi.. they gave her few injections, I think painkiller (because if gastric, recommended not to take any painkiller or your gastric become worst) and medicine for gastric.

The doctor nice to us.. I wait till 4am until all the procedures done.. the doctor told us.. it also could be gallstone.. suggest us to do further diagnosis.. He wrote the reference letter.

Afternoon my wife still not feeling well.. call Annur Bangi if they can scan, etc.. They said.. come we will check.. and if we cannot do, we will refer to KPJ.. mmm ok.. I think may as well I go direct to KPJ.. right?

But then, since Colombia Asia is ING panel hospital, I went there.. We reached there around 5pm.. ya at least best treatment for my wife.. we expect to diagnose for gastric and gallstone, end up.. appendicitis ?? that night my wife went for emergency operation because doctor said inflamed appendix tu sudah pecah..

Admitted at almost 8pm, operation at 9.30pm.. impressive?? Ok.. my wife look ok after the operation.. next day.. my wife said.. she still in pain.. yup.. because of the gastric.. then the doctor gave her medicine for gastric.. and also said that my wife blood pressure was very high.. so have to stay 1 more night.. her BP was high about 160/110.. not normal for lady at 33 years old.. but considering my wife just completed the 44 hari pantang.. just completed her operation last night.. gastric some more.. it could affect her BP reading.. yup some stress because we actually plan for a trip ended 3 days 2 night at Columbia Asia Hotel.

Anyway.. the doctors still want to keep her stay at least 1 night.. but my wife insist to go home.. so after taking some medicine to lower her BP.. finally discharged.

You want to know the bill.. RM9,870.00.

The hospital look nice and clean.. nurses very friendly and prompted.. but the admission process took almost 1 hour ++ ?? luckily me and my wife were both very patient..

Considering RM350 per day.. the single room was empty.. yup a LCD 20/21' but without remote.. etc.

I went to 1st class ward in Serdang Hospital, it was much more complete and worth it.

Regards.

I was laid up in Sunway a few years ago with a pulmonary embolism--the facilities and nurses were nice, but the doctors/specialists had amazingly poor bedside manners--it was always an uphill battle to get them to provide any additional context beyond test results and to answer even one or two follow-up questions.

I understand that health professionals are super busy, but I think it's unwarranted for a doctor to a) snap at you when you ask about the common side effects of a long-term medication they have prescribed and b) snap at you again when you ask if there is any additional information to read on your own after he refuses to answer a).

I still give Sunway the thumbs up for good facilities.

I would argue that some modicum of bedside manner (especially when treating patients and answering valid questions) is part and parcel of being good at their jobs.

I think i will go to where the respective specialist that i want to see is rather than going to the "best" hospital for major illness. hmm.gif
The "best" hospital doesnt have to have the "best" specialists.
Do some homework and try to search for reputable specialist you need, you'll be surprise some of them aren't at the "best" hospital. shocking.gif

'Best' is relative depending on your criterions (location, specialities, accessibility, staff etc). For government pensioners, public hospitals are the 'best' because they're free.

Anyway TS should've asked for something specific. Am closing this.
