well, desktop charger is just a docking station for the psp. if i may, i think you better off buying an external docking speaker for it. it charges your psp and plays music. in good quality. and also, i dont know where you can get one of those desktop chargers. might be selling but it'll cost a little i guess. maybe the same price as the docking speaker.

there is one if im not mistaken la. some people were discussing about it in here. or in the for beginners thread. cant recall.

try winavi mp4 converter. the quality isnt really top of the notch but its simple enough.

using the analog stick to browse in the XMB is not a standard feature. there is a homebrew for it. im sure you must've messed with its configuration or something. try lurking in the settings menu or the recovery mode. but do not mess with anything you dont sure what for.

well, to be honest, its all up to you. we can only point out the differences. but if you feel more comfortable holding and playing the phat, by all means get one. i dont want you to buy a slim just because we say its 'better' or something but ending up regretting you bought it instead of the phat.
and the buttons are not swappable, sorry. theye were made differently.

psp slim
pro: slim, faster, lighter
con: no IR port, the umd and the mem stick cover may be a little flimsy looking and easy to break under rough usage.

psp phat
pro: IR port, feels more solid and tougher
cons: heavy, bulky, a little slower than slim

well its faster in game. like, if you have a UMD (should you ever buy one for god knows why. haha), the slim can load faster than the phat. extra 32meg rams.
here's a video of it in action. significant improvements.
it sorta caches some of the data from the umd and loads from both of the memory and umd simultaneously so faster. a lot.
and, uh, if you're thinking about upgrading the ram, then inform me. never found anyone who had before. haha

and the IR port is the infrared port. used to interact with IR devices. be it tv, dvd player, IR keyboard, anything. as long as you got the right programs.

just borrow one of your friend's psp battery and bring along while buying it. then compare. you should see the differences in a snap.
can catch him red handed with evidence some more.
