Gamuda announced 12.5% dividend payout on ex-date 16 July 2008.

Maybe we should figure out the amount this deal could come out to, and make a call accordingly? I still think there's time for a little consolidation of the price before the privatisation takes place. Tomorrow is T+3, so we should see a huge sell off on Thursday.

Dato Lin has already disposed of his 70million shares before the rumour even surfaced. So, I don't think that it's shareholders making such rumours.

Well, maybe they have dismissed the rumour, but Gamuda at this price does seem attractive. With their NTA per share at RM1.50, the current price of RM2.49 and EPS of 22 sen in 2007, it is trading at only 1.66 P/B and a PE of 11.3. Their earnings of 22 sen in 2007 shows a ROI of 8.8%, which is good. This year though, we should be looking at EPS of around 16 sen. That is an ROI of 6.4%, which is still considered ok, with their earnings potentially higher when their project in Vietnam is completed in 3 years time. So, Gamuda is still very attractive as a privatisation target in my humble opinion

Dividends are paid out of a company's shareholder equity, so when that happens, the equity would shrink. Therefore, it would be reflected in its share price. Same goes for bonuses and splits. |
