@Riddhy,
I am quite sure if ur folks are sending U $ every 3 months, they would be giving/providing u sufficient for the next 3 months. I certainly would advice against taking a credit card. |

@Riddhy,
I doubt ur folks will be transmitting the $ v late; they would also have made the calculations to make sure the $ they sent would last u for the 3 months. My advice is still against getting a credit card. |

For those who are oredi in debt, just cause U've managed to convert them into EPP, it doesn't mean U haf extra credit to spend. U should stop using the credit card for purchases anymore.

@jeff_ckf,
I don't disagree with the act of parents issuing a supplementary card to the child for emergency purposes; esp when they're not with them. In fact, I got my 1st credit card [through the supplementary program of course] when I was 14. The difference is that my folks trusted me with the card and knew I wouldn't abuse it. The bank had initially recommended RM1k CL but dad said that was too lil and gave me RM3k which was later increased to RM7k then RM10k when I went overseas to study. I never used that card as I had sufficient cash, or the card was used only for emergency purposes. If I can't even manage cash, what makes U think I be able to manage a credit card? It's not about love, it's about responsibility. |

@ifeel100,
It's OK for the folks to issue a suppementary card to their kids if their kids are responsible. It is pretty good for emergency purposes but a lot of kids seem to think buying that blouse or shoe is emergency! *gulps* @hye, |

@jeff_ckf,
I see and get ur point. Parents would know if their kids are financially responsible. For those who knows their kids can't keep $ but yet decide to get a supplementary card for them, well they're just killing their child. |

@eRiCCa,
In the past, BNM rules weren't as strict on issuance of Supp card but apparently it was being abused hence the rule got much stricter a year or two after. Sis wasn't allowed a supp card until she was 18. I guess I was just lucky. You're right about using it as cash/emergency. Nett nett at the end of the day, it's a big responsibility and it shouldn't fall into the hands of the irresponsibles. This post has been edited by tinkerbel: Jun 23 2008, 02:48 PM |

@jeff_ckf,
1 month isn't usually considered serious. A lot of people's debt gets into the 5 figures! *gulps* |

@jeff_ckf,
I personally don't like to be in debt and like to have at least 6-8 months of expenses in my bank account just in case. Investments are separate that way I know I have funds should any emergency arise or if an unfortunate situation beckons |
