I don't mean to combat hair loss. But to make the hair strands thicker. Heard that some shampoos do work.

Try shampoo that contains Biotin and Panthenol. Glycerine also helps to thicken the hair. The main thing to look at when buying shampoos is to read the shampoos purpose. If you just want a thickening agents these are the best volumizing ingredients around. But bear in mind, you will have to continue to use it to maintain the thickening effect but that does not mean your hair won't fall. Your hair will look fuller for a while but as it gets thinner it will look bad too. So if you got hair loss, treat the problem from the root, not the top only. Cheers..

Went to a dermatologist. He prescribed regaine (5% minoxidil) and a tablet and foam medicine to reduce pimples on the scalp. However he did not prescribed propecia. Should i go back to him and get the propecia as it is known to work better than regaine.

Was on a multi vitamin b supplement. Should i continue it?

If let's say i grab a bunch of hair roughly 50 strands and pull it slightly hard. Is it normal if there is roughly 4-6 strands that fall off?

Yes tomato..because at any one time 10% of your hair is in the Telogen phase, so if you pull real hard it's normal to lose 4-6...if more..then uh oh..

How much more might be signs of balding?

I noticed hair fall about a month ago. The hair roots are black in colour. However the thing is the hair fall are not only from the scalp. Hair from my eyebrows are equally fragile. So they should be in the telogen phase. So i suspect i might have telogen effluvium.

Telogen effluvium is the condition where the hair moves into the telogen phase drastically. But after that, the hair follicle goes back to a growth cycle into the Anagen phase back right?

Since telogen effluvium is caused by stress. Is there possibility to reverse the hair loss without medication.

Those that have MPB or androgenic alopecia takes propecia. Do those suffering from telogen effluvium take propecia? It's a big commitment to take propecia for the rest of the life.

Dear tomatoes...if you are having Telogen Effluvium, there is no need to do anything much because usually after a period of shedding your hair will grow back and return to normal and you will be okay! Just try to reduce stress and you will be fine.

However the only problem is how do i identify that i'm having telogen effluvium and not androgenic alopecia? Any recommendations for dermatologists?

I noticed that the hair fall is sudden roughly a month ago. A month ago there's only 1 or 2 hair on my pillow when i wake up and now theres like 3 to 8. I can only notify that the hair falling comes from the front and somewhere else as the hair on the front is much longer kept. However there is entirely no sign of receding hairline. However there is a patch on my back where i realise the hair count to be less.

What could be the effect if a non-androgenic alopecia patient takes propecia? Will hair fall be worse?

Btw i'm 19 years old.

Thanks for the reply.
