Ian Wright was more of a natural goal scorer. He isn't as spectacular as Henry and doesn't have as much ability. He does however have a natural instinct for goals, much like Robbie Fowler. Coincidentally, while both players were scoring for fun for their respective clubs, both had poor international careers. Henry on the other hand scores a goal every two games or so for France and has performed at the highest level. For that, I'm going with Henry.

On a side note, Pahang once wanted to sign Ian Wright, when he was still playing for Arsenal!

Back then, Malaysian football weren't in such horrible state. We were actually going in the right direction, good players were interested to play for top Malaysian team at the right price. Can't believe the likes of Tony Cottee and David Rocastle use to grace the scene of Malaysian football. We were, what USA/Qatar is doing right now in attracting a few ageing but top class players with a huge paycheck to play for us. But of coz back then the likes of Tony Cottee didn't command such a huge paycheck like now. Unfortunately now, even a Division 2 player would think twice about playing here.

Don't forget another ex-Gunner, Chris Kiwomya biggrin.gif Tony Cottee wasn't happy that he had to wash his own boots here. I would kill to see how many goals Ian Wright would have scored had he played in our league.

Wrighty might not have scored that many goals you know. He would not have gotten the type of support he used to get from Overmars, Bergkamp, Suker, Kanu and etc.

He would have had he played for the Red Giants! Zoran Nikolic was one of the best playmakers in the league at the time. Ah I'm getting carried away smile.gif

It's unfair to compare them. Beside being different types of player (as striker), they are from different generation as well.

Football itself has been very different compared to other or older generations. laugh.gif

Also, it's unfair to Ian Wright since not many of us here have watched him playing before (beside Bergkamp's testimonial match)... and that's including me!

I chose not to vote.

Well I've watched both of them and I gave as fair as analysis as possible. Wright was a more direct player and had excellent predatory instincts in the box while Henry is more versatile and has more overall ability. For that I went with Henry. I still can't figure out until today why Wright's England career was so poor, much like Robbie Fowler's.
