his pay is RM3k+ when he just graduated... then 4k... 5k... keep on increasing when you got promoted. job wise I heard that he's working 4 days straight then rest 3 days. flying everywhere, that's for sure but then he's okay with it as his gf is an air stewardess tongue.gif

wearing specs is okay for commercial pilots but not military ones

Take some time and browse through http://www.askcaptainlim.com/ if you're really interested guys.

SIA and MAS are open to applications for cadet pilots at the moment. Not sure about AirAsia though.

Did someone called?

That link ringrong posted is a pretty good place to start. Otherwise I only have one thing to add: It's a pretty bad time to start a career in this. you see mergers, cutbacks, fuel price rising and airlines cutting cost. Take a gamble if you like.

Now if you excuse me, i have a stupid rally to attend to today at 9:30am. I'd rather be home playing MGO, but what can i do?

So basically the pay will be based on ranking/experience plus the type of airplane he fly.

How about for military pilot? pay more than commercial?

a97117, I'm just a bus driver here. tongue.gif By the way, we dont call Singapore Airlines SAL, we either address them as SQ, as how MAS is callsigned MH.

As for the profit margins, they are shrinking, thanks to the escalating fuel price. Some forward-thinking airlines like Southwest Airlines do think ahead and does fuel hedging, basically buying fuel at fixed price, even as the price per barrel kept on climbing. MAS has its fuel hedges too, but im not at the liberty of discussing that here, company secret. tongue.gif It is because of this that why Southwest still manages to stay afloat and track profit margins while the other US-based airlines scramble to merge to recoup their losses.

Not anymore. If you're been to the most recent CVP Rally, MAS is no longer hiring cadet pilot. The last CP selection is their last, until we ride out this storm. What this means is that promotions , or movements of pilots from fleets or ranks will be frozen, until the need to do when we buy new aircrafts. The next aircraft intake would be the 737-800 replacing the current aging 737-400s(finally!) March next year, the ATR-72-500s to replace the Fokkers for MasWings and Fireflyz, as well as the A380 scheduled for 2011. Until next March, there will be no more intakes, or fleet movements.

If u're looking for money...commercial pilot is the answer...

But if u're looking for challange, glamour and speed, fighter pilot, my uncle is a fighter pilot with TUDM (RMAF), now serving with MIG 29, looking forward to be Sukhoi pilot. But he still young. He always says, I fly from Kuantan to Butterwoth in 30 min only...

While my younger brother is flight engineer specialized in jet weapon (everyday holding mortar and bomb). Also serving with TUDM.

He went to Kolej Tentera Udara, the specialized in that field...his task is to make sure that fighter weapon, jet seat are ok, the he will signal the pilot to take off. After landing, he will check again and keep the weapon in the weapon store. That is what he told me.

I have -5.00 to -5.50 short-sightness and I would like to appy for cadet pilot at MAS. Will I still be eligible for joining the job as Commercial Pilot? Unfortunately, I don't take Physics instead I take Biology, Chemistry, Add. Maths and EST. But I love flying and will do anything to get into this job even it takes me to ly 24/7 I rather do it. Besides, I also fluent in English perfectly. I experienced some flying basics in a Microsoft FSX such as take off, landings and cockpit controls. I really need this job and it would be perfect if a real MAS/AirAsia pilot resolve my problem. Thank you.

First Officer : Basic RM5500 allowance Rm55 per flight hours

Senior First Officer : Basic RM5500 allowance Rm75 per hour

Average 75hours a month. U do the math

if i'm not mistaken, MH doesn't send their cadets to MFA, Melaka anymore. there're only 2 flying academies taking in their cadets now, HMA in Langkawi and APFT in Kelantan. those cadets sponsored fully by MH from PPL, ATPL all the way up to type rating will be bonded for 15 years (or has this been changed?). a pilot's working life can go all the way up to 60-70 years old, but if i'm not mistaken, he'll be restricted to regional flights when he's 58 years old or so. a pilot at an airline like MH will only get command on B737 (in MH's case) at around 30-40 years old, so a pilot doesn't retire at 45 unless he/she choses to. smile.gif

do try out for SQ's ab-initio cadet pilot program, they're still keen at taking in cadet pilots. fyi, i'm not a pilot but i went through the selection process for both MH and SQ, but sadly fell short of their target. good luck guys!

i heard that the authority already endorsed the extension of the career for the pilot .they can serve for the company until 65 years old(old man) tats mean they'll retire after the 65 if they still eager to fly la and be make sure they must be in a healthy conditoin..medical check up will be taken in every certain time to meet the authority's requirement so that they still eligible to fly..correct me if im wrong..

Currently there is only 4 flying academy which u can counting on..location is sarawak, malacca, kelantan and the langkawi...so far for ipoh and KL there is no flying school for you bt they do have a flying club only..The highly recomended flying academy is malacca bcz it serve for the aviation quite a long time it have a better opportunities employed by the airlines company..it is the one of the most professional flying academy in malaysia....Somemore, MAS also sending their cadet to malacca (MFA) for under go their training.which mean they are well train by the flying instuctor i think..ngek ngek...bt be self prepare during ur flight with ur instructor..huhu..u goin to experience it..

If you are accepted by an airline, you dont need money. IF you are accepted into a flying scholl (all WILL BE ACCEPTED), you need Rm250k if you dont get scholarship/loan.

After all the exams at the private school, you will have to sit again for exams at the airlines. If lucky, you get in immediately, some wait for 2 years before getting in...very stressful.

Added on May 17, 2012, 8:35 pmCan AA pilots here explain what is expected at 4th Interview--Tea Party? Do you still get eliminated at this stage? What is the passing number?

How many months to wait IF you pass this stage?
