Air Cond, need to clarify a few info

hi all,
just wanna know what does the HP on the air cond actually stands for ? cause i'm planning to get an air cond.. and i dont know how powerful or what is the recommended HP to room size that i need is there a guide that i can look at.. ? |

What is the max HP out there? My back neighbour using a big ass air-conditioner. I can confirm it is more than 2HP.
