Look, the patent Microsoft had for in-game music was only through its own Xbox dashboard. Meaning, its patent actually only applies to in-game music being played from the HDD through the dashboard.

Now, heres the loophole. Super Stardust HD has done it long ago, in-game music was provided through the game itself. Nothing to do with PS3's XMB. Granted that you cannot switch music anytime you want as you can with the 360, its still better than nothing.

There are other ways around where Sony should be able to do something about the patent.

I hope 3rd-party games gets patched soon as well.

And why I do have this feeling that some of these 3rd party games already and actually have support for trophies in the first place? whistling.gif biggrin.gif

Updated, installed. In-game XMB finally! Still no in-game music however since that will need to be patched and enabled by developers(blame M$ for their patent).

Now, all theres left is to wait for developers to hurry out those trophy support and in-game-music support.

High Velocity Bowling already supports in-game mp3s so I don't know why it's so difficult for other games to do so. Very easy to do some more. Just click "Select" and then go to the Music folders and choose the mp3s you want to play.

Super Stardust HD as well have in-game music.

Its not difficult, rather I think why developers never did it in the first place is because theres no demand from Sony themselves. Unlike MS who uses hardware for their in-game-music feature where they patent it, Sony cannot directly do the same thing. So then it'll be up to developers to patch their games with support through software for in-game-music.

I noticed that majority of the people who got bricked from the 2.40(or any other past firmware release) update was updating through the PS3.... hmm.gif

Could this have been the problem?

Currently no prob for me, updated through USB thumbdrive after downloading from my PC. Even played MGS4 for 2nd BBE run until 6am from 11:30PM last night.

The only setback is the laggy in-game XMB.

The "laggy" in-game XMB is meant to be like that. No problems there, I just wish that Sony would have streamline the profiles better. It takes quite a bit of time to load the trophies on people's profiles.

Theres a new tab under the profiles page as well for showing the last played game. The Platinum trophy icon has been changed too, now it really looks more platinum-ish.

In-game XMB is slightly smoother now as well.

I agree with you the in game XMB is slightly smoother. but where is the last played game tab? or is it shown on the first tab? the first row...?
*
The last played game shows in an entirely new tab only after you play and exit a game.

dunno why that happens...but im now a happy user of ps3!! XMB rawkkss!!

It is actually 60% jumped to 100% in a split second. So that means you updated your system without problems, no worries. Happens to everyone.

I suspected IP-blocking at first, but didn't really belief it is. Damn.... IP block for Malaysia.

So I guess, even if the video store comes to the SG PSN, we won't be able to access it even.

Hahhahaha.... yea maybe its better that way.

But movie studios shouldn't really block us from downloading it. Afterall, we have to PAY for a movie we want to watch no matter what. So we aren't pirating it or anything.

They might as well lock us out of the entire US PSN store then if thats the case.

Yea its more of like the licenses for countries. We're in the age of digital downloads and this rule still applies, doesn't make sense to me.
This is one of the factors which make people go for pirating and torrenting.

Don't blame us entirely Hollywood, blame yourself too.

True, they want to do business. Money is the bottomline.

But the point is, if they want to do business just let the entire world buy it. We can't smuggle off the store for free anyways, we have to pay to get the content. We pay for what we want, they get the business. Everyone's happy.

They should abolish all this stupid licensing nonsense, since this is in a form of digital download which will be used at home(not to say not everyone will use it at home only).

Home's region locked...... wow, great way to screw everyone over.

That means, if they are stickign to the propriatery region lock, we Malaysians we be able to use Home at all. Screwed indeed.

Lets hope it is only partial region lock(like MGO).

Their reason to lock Home is because of adverts, mostly that is.

They said an European advert wouldn't make sense to Americans, and the same way around as well. Lame excuse IMO.

I know they need adverts to support the service since Home will be free to all. But using that as an excuse? Jeez....

What about people who doesn't even have official support from Sony yet? Like us.... for example. We don't even have a PSN store to begin with, heck PS3s aren't even selling officially here.

i dont see whats the problem..
so we cant mingle with americans/europeans...big deal.
as long as we can use it-whats the problem? huh.gif
*
Uhm.... Home is region locked by IP.

That means, unless we have any sort of Sony support here for the PS3(which currently, theres still no official launch and a dedicated PSN store) in Malaysia, Home won't even be accesible to us to begin with let alone use it.

Tell me if thats not a problem.

not being able to use it at all is vastly different than not being able to meet others in the public area.

so far reports suggest region locking in PUBLIC AREAS.
i've not seen anything about region locking the ENTIRE home.

Hmmm yes indeed. The apartment is still open isn't it?

Still.... it takes out alot of the experience of Home. Cuztomizing your apartment can only be so fun until it gets boring soon after.

I suppose they could. But wherether they'll do it or not is a different story.

I have alot of overseas friends, sure that it is nice that we can still interact in the apartment but not being able to walk around in the city square? Really potong steam.

Lets hope Sony fixes this up.
