SIEN. So far only games that showcases PS3 is...  MGS4 and GT5:P.
Anymore games I should get?
*
Have you not tried Uncharted? Also showcases the PS3's prowess.

Siren does it pretty damn well too, th character models are really well done. Pretty much just a taste of how horror games can be if it is done right.

GoW3 is 2009 man.

Unless, Sony drops a bombshell soon and GoW3 comes out at the end of the year. Unlikely... but its nice to dream.

Don't know good or bad news:

QUOTE
Home access is based on console region, not PSN account

With the release of the new Home beta, we now have a much clearer idea of how these region restrictions, that we discovered at E3, are being implemented. It seems that the client reacts to your console's native region, locking you out of any Home servers that don't match it. That means that if you're a UK gamer who imported from the US, you'll be spending all of your time with Americans inside Home. If you imported from Japan ... well, you can guess where that's headed.

What we find bizarre is that it's such a strict lock-out, and that you're not given any degree of choice in the matter. It seems so weird that anyone can access any region's PSN Store, but not the online social networking hub. We can only assume that similar restrictions as on the store will be made for purchasing within Home. That is to say, if you're a UK credit card owner you won't be able to spend anything in the US Home without some jiggery pokery.

Obviously, this all makes sense to Sony. Home is meant to be a big income generator for them; mostly through advertising. They want the most appropriate eyes to see these adverts in order to maximise the "click through" rate. There's no point advertising Mountain Dew to a UK citizen, for example. But console-specific region locking is not the answer. At the very least, set up an IP location check or, god forbid, give people a choice.
The sauce(I mean source): http://www.ps3fanboy.com/2008/08/15/home-a...unt/1#c13710633

Console region lock-out means well we won't be able to social around with the people who have different PS3 sets here. Bad news to me. Another thing is that if development of Home is to be anything like how the PSN stores are, then we can expect SG/HK or the entire Asia(bar Japan) if they put us together to have the slowest updates.

Good news probably is that we won't lag as much..... wait its just a social networking hub, so lagging doesn't mean anything!

Thats a problem actually.

Seeing as how our PSN IDs will be linked to Home, and Home is region locked as well.... then what the hell is going to happen to us US account users? My main account is US.

All my friends, trophies and saves on my US account. A hassle to switch over to my secondary SG account.

Has anyone tried out the Fracture demo yet? Is it another Haze?
*
The Fracture demo is actually IMO.... good. I'm suprised at it, not that its awesome or anything but I like how the terrain changing gameplay works. Although the combat side is still a little weak and I expect that to stay like that anyways when the final game comes out.

Its not a game worth full price though, more of those rent it, beat it and forget it sort of game.

QUOTE(K-End @ Sep 24 2008, 08:58 AM)
im not encouraging but, if you read carefully the manual...PS3 can read DVD-R disc.

by this i think they referring to home-made DVD video and what are the different between the 'ahem' dvd  movie with home-made DVD video?
i still remember Sony PR keep saying "you can watch you home movie DVD on your PS3 because your PS3 is now a Media Centre. You can even save it inside PS3 HDD"
*
The problem is this.

Pirated DVDs(or VCDs for the matter as well) aren't usually burned properly. I've heard and seen that they are just burning the media onto the disc just for the sake of it(burning a movie at 12x speed?! doh.gif ). Of course technically they are just DVD-R/DVD+R discs, which of course can be read by the PS3 no problem.

eh those who have Home BETA has to redownload the new Home when it comes our or what ah? hmm.gif

Just have to update. Don't need to re-download.
Although I wouldn't be suprised if Sony tells everyone to re-download HOME again for those who are already in the beta though.

QUOTE(law1777 @ Oct 6 2008, 05:51 PM)
home 1.0??
*
Current HOME version is 0.98. 1.0 as many has speculated will be the public release.

Added on October 6, 2008, 9:11 pmBTW, a slight bit of bad news for you all.

Apparently, the new Core-80GB PS3s only have 128mb of Flash memory as opposed to the older PS3s(60GB, 20GB, 80GB B/C, 40GB) which has 512mb of flash memory(in 2x256mb config).

Da' sauce: http://www.n4g.com/ps3/News-210228.aspx

It shouldn't do much of a difference if anything though.

PS3 (v2.50) update

Now on to the PS3 v2.50 update. The latest features/enhancements include:

    * PlayStation Trophies interface enhancements - I know that many of you are busy collecting trophies and raising your PlayStation Trophy level. This update makes sharing and comparing your trophies with your friends even easier. On 1st part of the profile page you’ll see a symbol under level that represents level and the actual percentage towards the next level along with the existing level meter. The level symbol carries over to the trophy comparison screen where you will now be able to see your level, your friend’s level and the percentage towards the next level for both users along with all of the game by game comparison information you see today.

        * Video – This update adds the Scene Search feature similar to the feature on the PSP. Activating this feature while viewing a video on the PS3 will break the video up into scenes that you can quickly access by pressing the X button. You can break the videos into one, two or five minute intervals. In addition, you can now choose to have all of the videos under the video section of the XMB play in sequence. Go to Settings then Video Settings to turn this option on.

    * PlayStation Store – We’ve added a redeem codes option right on the store to make it easier to redeem your PlayStation Network Cards and promotion codes. In addition, PlayStation Network Sign Up and Account Management have been redesigned.

    * Power Save Settings – You can now set your PS3 and wireless controllers to turn off automatically after set periods of inactivity. Go to Settings then Power Save Settings to turn on these features.

    * Background Downloading - You now have the option to set the PS3 to turn off automatically after a background download or installation of content has completed. This option is available when you turn off the system from the button under [Users] while content is being downloaded or installed.

    * In-game Screenshots - this tool will allow everyone to capture, share and in other words, immortalize their favorite gameplay moments. This will be supported on a game by game basis. Please check back to find out which games will support this feature.

Those are so bloody good and has long-been needed updates for the PS3. Thank god they are finally coming soon!

I hope they make viewing trophies, comparing trophies and synching them faster. They infact should be seamless.

Okay... done updating, done installing. No problems what so ever. All the features that has been announced are in and its nice.

Though right now, whenever you watch a video on the PS3 and then proceed to use the in-game XMB, the vid will pause(previously it'll continue playing). I don't like it that way.

Also, the updates to trophy is nice but they still have not fixed how freaking slow the trophy servers are.

Okay one thing I'm really glad about is the account management. By god they have overhaul the whole thing and intergrate it into the XMB!

That means no more waiting 1 minute to load up the entire account mangement screen anymore, no more waiting in fear of your connecting DCing when submitting your info and so on. All in all, its so much faster and its how it should have been since day 1.
