I'm going down to singapore on dec 12 to fetch my bro from changi airport (he's coming back from US and stopping in changi. Flight arriving midnight). Planning to go down from KL in the morning and go jalan jalan awhile.

Question is, since it's been awhile since i been in singapore (the last time i was there was almost 10 years ago) i thought of just driving down using the 2nd link and then park my car somewhere near a MRT station and use the MRT to go around. Any advice on where to go once i pass the 2nd link checkpoint? Also, from second link to changi, do i need to get those ERP tags or something (watch from movie that to drive in singapore need to get those tag thing). Frankly, i'm quite a noob about this... If only the ticket back to Malaysian doesn't cost an extra USD 400... a

For information re driving into and out of S'pore, ERP, etc, check http://www.lta.gov.sg/

What airline is your bro flying with? Since he's arriving in Changi, alternate choice is to get a cheap Air Asia ticket to fly back to KL..

where did you all get your currency exchanged?
bank, currency exchange vender or lcct / singapore airport?
hmmm, which one give the best offer?
*
Generally those small exchange stalls give better rates. Airport/banks give terrible rates. for MY to SG, i think this rule would apply as well la

any1 visit the ion orchard? how the place like?
and the cathay? how far from dhouby gout station?
thanks!
*
ion orchard has some crazy crowd. with lots of stores and brands, avid shoppings are bees for honey!

the cathay, i personally prefer it there for a more laid back atmosphere. my visit was perfectly timed when i was there in a breezy drizzling morning for a movie, with a coffee at a cafe with good views. around 15mins walk from dhouby gout station.

Can any1 recommend me any accommodations near to the Suntec Convention Center?

I found out Hotel 81 in Bugis is quite nice, but just the price is slightly high during Friday & Weekend.

Possible to find any Hotels where the room rate is around SGD100 per day?

If your hotel is in Singapore, easier if u just drive in & park at the hotel. Malaysian are given ~10 days of free entry excluding Weekendwhich is free. & during weekdays, entering CBD is only S$5 unlimited...weekend is free...

Parking at JB is not cheap unless u stay in JB hotels, that's diff story.

Certain ppl prefer nite life, clubbing & modern shoppings rather than relaxing & happy moment in luxury resort in Bali, Phuket, Maldives or even Redang...

Singapore will be very tiring honeymoon..after shopping no energy for the nite liao...haha

Refer to LTA web site for info:

http://www.lta.gov.sg/motoring_matters/ind...oring_guide.htm

"Please produce your valid road tax disc and vehicle insurance certificates when purchasing the Autopass Card. "

NOt sure how you are going to get to Johor, but once clear MY custom, just hope onto any bus going into SG (have to pay fare), upon reaching SG and clearing custom, its very simple. Walk out all the way to Woodlands, you will see taxi queuing for passengers. If you don't like taking taxi, just get on to any SBS or Tibs Buses (not srue ask the driver), I think all heading towards Woodlands Regional interchange. From interchange, you can get upstairs to take MRT train all the way to Orchard.

However, booking hotels in Orchard is I am not sure what's your plan. Last minute booking may not be cheap, even on those lastminute booking site, it may not be cheap too. Just cheap one of the site yesterday, it was more EXP than normal online booking.
