QUOTE(BurgaFlippinMan @ May 10 2008, 11:38 AM) Raiders is perfct. ToD was awesome in its own offbeat and mean way. LC is very very likable, but in the end (especially if you've watched the movies a gazillion times) is just too dependent on cute humor, which makes Indy feel less hard boiled. Ironically, LC feels like Roger Moore to the Connery of Raiders (pun intended). ToD is amazing in the way they took this massive pop cultural phenomenon and did something way out of this world with it, akin to giving the middle finger to mainstreamness. Brilliant in its own way. National Treasure is nothing but a revolting Indy knockoff with an eye on milking the Da Vinci Code hype. The only Indy knockoff worth its salt insofar is the The Mummy. It's hard to not love The Last Crusade when you get to see Indiana getting taught the lessons of his life by his nerdy dad! Indiana plus Henry Jones combo = total awesomeness. Yes, Henry Jones makes his son seem less hard-boiled, but that's the charm of it all! I really like ToD, but it tries to be dark, yet still wants to please the mainstream crowd and throws in a screaming woman and an annoying chinese kid. It still works, but the compromise it takes by trying to balance the dark and the Indy humour just makes the movie slightly less fun than its predecessor and successor.

It still works, but the compromise it takes by trying to balance the dark and the Indy humour just makes the movie slightly less fun than its predecessor and successor. Ford and Connery have great chemistry, but the humor is a double edged sword. Its definitely funny, hilarious at times but it oh so nearly turns one of the greatest heroes of cinema into a parody of himself, hence the Roger Moore comparison. The tone was swung too far into the opposite direction to atone for Temple of Doom's perceived 'sins'. Temple of Doom doesnt try to be dark. It IS dark. Its pure anti mainstream Lucas. Wonder what happen to Short Round... he is kinda in HK films... last one in 2002...
What should Indy IV have ? Well, with CG effects and Steven Spielberg in the 21st century, one can expect greatness, on par 'even surpassing' the excitement of Raiders of the Lost Ark...

I know what'll be better than LC, Indy and Lara Croft enough said. So far I like LC the most but my guess is with shia, it'll probably be as fun and humorous as LC.

QUOTE(kevler @ May 10 2008, 11:40 AM) i'm waiting for this sequel since Spielberg announce it 8 years ago .. whatever it is , Indy sequel is legendary. this is my 1st ever Indy movie I will watch at theathre It was first officially announced in 1993. I remember reading about it in The Star newspaper. The news was also about the Star Wars prequel. This will be my first time in theatre too, didn't have the chance to see "Last Crusade", even though I was old enough at that time (12 years old). In response to the thread, I just hope it will be just like all other Indy movies. All indications right now really shows that it will be old school. "Raiders" is my favorite movie of all time (not sure how many times have I said that already ), so I hope "Skull" will be my second favorite! There was about two for some of the cast and crew, Cannes.....thats it. QUOTE(PhoenixByte @ May 14 2008, 10:23 AM) who are you to judge if that makes him happy n satisfied? I'm merely stating a well known fact constantly mentioned by the filmmakers. If its excessive CG he's looking for, he probably won't find it in Indy. QUOTE(BurgaFlippinMan @ May 14 2008, 04:06 PM) live free or die hard wasnt.....hard enough... also, McClane can't even utter the immortal "yipeekaiye" line I was too young to watch Raiders in 1981, but for Temple of Doom and Last Crusade, my dad brought us whole family to the big, stand-alone cinema to watch. Raiders is untouchable, the best in the series, and i don't think Indy4 will even come close in terms of entertainment. But I actually prefer Last Crusade over TOD.
