In April, my Xbox Live subscription was up for renewal but unfortunately Microsoft is unable to charge my credit card (which is no longer valid). I have attempted to change my payment method to another new credit card but the transaction was somehow not approved (i.e. the credit card details cannot be changed). I believe it is because I am using a Malaysian credit card but the address details included is Singapore.

Thereafter I tried calling Xbox Singapore but was unable due to the SG toll free number which cannot be called from MY. In view of this, I got a friend of mine in Singapore to call the toll free number (impersonating me!) and asked them to remove my credit card details so that I can then use prepaid card to pay for the subscription. Apparently my friend (after calling them) was told that they can cancel my previous credit card details for next year but cannot be backdated to this current renewal as the renewal has already been made but unfortunately they cannot charge to my credit card.

Sorry for the long story but I have the following questions which I hope someone will be able to help:
1. If the previous credit card details are still in my Xbox account, can I utilise a prepaid card and pay for this renewal?
2. Did anyone experience the same problem whereby you cannot change credit card details? Am I correct to put the country as Singapore and not Malaysia in the address line?
3. Does anyone have any other suggestions? I really hate to have my account suspended and cannot be activated again and hence lose all my gamer points and history.

I really appreciate if anyone out there who had similar experience as me and got the problem solved can guide me on what needs to be done.

ok...this is what i know la...

1) you can use your prepaid card(i assume your LIve subscription card), as long as before renewal time...

2)try using your Mac (or your windows machine), to change the details or whatsoever.....
...it works on Mac... ....(last 2 weeks it still works...)

3)hmm...once they have try to renew the Live using your credit card (if expired that is), you have to charge your Live using CC for that period..........in other cases, try emailing them.....make up story a bit.....expatriate for example..

I’ve encountered this before, for the first time i subscribes my live, i did it through Xbox Live and after a year of subscription, i purposely made changes on my previous CC detail before the expiry date so they do not charge that CC anymore (because i was using my bro's CC for the first year subscription).

And the funny thing is, Microsoft renew my subscription without my acknowledgement and told me my account has been renew for 1 year. But after two weeks of free live usage they email me and told me my CC info is incorrect hence they are unable to proceed with the payment and after a month from the expiry date, they suspended my account.

and what i did is add a new payment method through Xbox Live and they will auto charge to my new CC. I guess my experience is pretty much the same as your.

1. I think you can renew your live through prepaid card since I did the same, only different method is I renew my live account via Xbox Live
2. Logon to http://billing.microsoft.com -> you must logon with your hotmail account which tight to your live account. and you can not change much in the site, only available changes are your Credit card holder's name and expiry date ( I made change on expiry date so they are unable to charge my CC )
3. I did put in my actual addresses and only different is i selected my country as Singapore. So far so good....

try this.. go to billing.microsoft like jaylike7 said, but instead of changing the current card info; create a new card then make this new card active. the old card will be inactive, but u cant change the info or delete it. iinm, they made it that way for traceability reasons

I have already attempted to change into another credit card but somehow it shows an error saying the card is not authorised. Excatly what I did per Jaylike 7 i.e. use my original address but put in Singapore as the country. Anyway, I'll try again and see how it goes.

Drop their customer service an email, I'm sure they would help.

I also have the same problem. Right now i am not sure whether they can or cant charge my CC for the next renewal. I found that they cant authorized my CC when i wanted to buy M$ points.

As for my renewal it expired on 6 of June. But i havent got any email noticing me the renewal which usually they do. Now i dont want to end up my account being suspended.

I just tried to buy M$ point and its still the same. They cant authorized my CC. Also, i have updated my CC expiry date.

You need a sinapore CC to do the payment. Get a relative or friends to do so...
