I found this only 1.25%. No mgmt fee, and no initial discount. Is this an index fund, or insurance? "Premier Index Fund Objective: To achieve a commendable medium to long-term capital appreciation by seeking to track the performance of the KLCI. This fund maintains a portfolio of stocks that matches the composition of the index by investing primarily in the 100 stocks which make up the benchmark of the KLCI. Annual fund management fee: 1.25% " Source: http://www.maybank2u.com.my/This post has been edited by simplesmile: May 30 2009, 06:21 PM

QUOTE(mtsen @ May 31 2009, 06:59 PM) seems like a passive index fund. If this fund REALLY is a passive KLCI index fund, then isn't it better than the UOB KLCI tracker because there's no upfront discount, and the mgmt fee is lower?

Can someone recommend some unit trust fund managers for KLCI INDEX fund? Is the OSK KLCI Tracker the only KLCI index fund around? I cannot believe this. Why other fund managers don't setup an index fund? Why let OSK monopoly? I can't even find two to compare and see which is cheaper.

Can someone explain this to me? I bought The Edge Jun 8 edition. On page 42, The Edge/Normandy, Performance of unit trusts in M'sia.
Under "Malaysia Equity Index"
Fund , 5 Year Return, Rank ASM Index, -1.97 , 7 CIMB-Principal KLCI Linked 2, 7.33 , 6 MAAKL Equity Index, 2.96 ,2 OSK-UOB KLCI Tracker, 5.04 , 1
Question 1. The CIMB 5-year return is higher than OSK and MAAKL, but why is it ranked lower than OSK and MAAKL?
. . Question 2. Referring to OSK-UOB KLCI Tracker which is ranked 1, the 5-year return is 5.04%. EPF dividends also averages between 4% to 6%. So why should I take out my money from EPF to buy the KLCI tracker, and invest in KLCI tracker for the long-term when EPF can also give me the same returns with peace of mind? . . Questio 3. What does it mean what a Unit Trust Fund "distributes"? Is it like paying dividends? Sending the cheque to us? . .

I bought some unit trust from OSK-UOB KLCI Tracker Fund using EPF. So the dividend was reinvested in buying more units. I don't have the dividend voucher. How can I get one so I can claim my tax credit?

Investing in Stocks is definitely more popular than investing in unit trusts. Went for a talk today about investing in unit trusts. There were so few people.

There is something I don't understand. Great investors such as Warren Buffett, and also many studies by researchers, found that majority of the fund managers underperform the index. Then how come when I look at the prospectus or the fact sheet of the funds, for the 5-year, 10-year performance, .... all of the funds OUTPERFORM the index???
How come the researchers say one thing, and the fact sheets say the opposite?

Are there any ETFs in Malaysia? Are they fairly priced? Are they even worth buying?

Thanks for reply. Are they fairly priced? What I meant was.... lets say the KLCI is trading at 22 P/E, the the KLCI ETF being illiquid, trades at a huge spread. Hence, if buy the KLCI ETF, maybe buying at PE 22.7. This in my opinion is not fairly priced with reference to the KLCI which is only trading at 22. QUOTE(wongmunkeong @ Apr 21 2012, 09:25 AM) ETFs in Malaysia - yes. http://www.bursamalaysia.com/website/bm/pr...f_products.htmlEquity ETFFBM KLCI etf (0820EA) MyETF-DJIM25 (0821EA) CIMB FTSE ASEAN 40 MALAYSIA (0822EA) CIMB FTSE Xinhua China 25 (0823EA) Fixed Income ETF ABFMY1 (0800EA) Are they fairly priced? Fair is a very iffy thing to different folks Are they even worth buying? To me, yes with lots of IFs To U and others, maybe, maybe not - it depends...
