Burn midnight oil is it yesterday?

Yea, 4AM baru tidor doh.gif

Just sorted out my holdings with FSM, today will deal with my holdings with EON/HLB. Now headache thinking how best to maintain the worksheet so that holdings with the 2 platforms can be consolidated yet can be analysed separated with a few clicks of the mouse. "Filter" function comes into play here hmm.gif

Holdings with FSM...IRR 2.16% only cos its very very very heavy on money market and fixed income... laugh.gif
...and losses from 2010 sweat.gif

Waiting to see how much the IRR would be when my Hwang Select Income Fund holdings are consolidated with FSM ones brows.gif

Young man can stay awake till so late.. I don't hv that kind of stamina already. Hehe..

What is diff of irr and xirr? You not using xirr meh?
*
"XIRR is the Excel function used to calculate IRR for cash flows that are irregular"

Anda ada faham kenyataan di atas? laugh.gif

If u are looking at a schedule of cash flows that has a regular pattern e.g. car loan instalment where there is a outlay (the disbursement of loan at commencement) and regular monthly repayments, then IRR is the function to be used.

But when u are looking at cash flows that don't have a regular pattern as in
(1) different amounts each time
(2) sometimes money in, sometimes money out
(3) 1 and 2 above happen at irregular time intervals (e.g. sometimes monthly RSP, sometimes 3 months also no buy in, then suddenly got withdrawal)
XIRR is the one to use. nod.gif

Me not young, nearing 30 already blush.gif

Wong Seafood,

What if u dulu dulu purchased Fund ABC, then disposed ALL, then later start buying in again?

Will u treat the previous profit/(loss) as realised and start anew your tracking for this fund?

Or continue on so that your current profit/(loss) for this fund will included previously realised profit/(loss)? hmm.gif

Pls lecture this young unker notworthy.gif

Typical MM fund, for those that is sooooooo lazy even to place FD themselves. The fund invest for you into FD & NID. Earning for last year is 2.82%, which is lower than general FD. Not for PB clients, anyone also can buy.

Useless fund.. tongue.gif
*
if u look harder, there are MM funds that beat even 12 months FD icon_idea.gif

Those are not 'pure' MM funds, but do hold some short term bonds... I would not classify them as MM as they do take some risk exposure.  laugh.gif

Yeah, but Lipper classifies them under MM category tongue.gif

MM = Money Market
NID = Negotiable Instruments of Deposit

MM instruments typically yield lower than FD, cos they're for short term. Like for example my company is getting 2.84% p.a. for MM placements on daily basis.

Bro... you company buy into which MM?
*
Not MM UT fund...we use UOB Money Market Deposit. Placements on daily basis get us 2.84% p.a. I think CIMB slightly higher, but not so convenient for us as most of our excess funds is at UOB. HLB is worst...I think 2.6% only doh.gif

Dear fellow investor,

Anyone invested in Hwang Select Income Fund can recommend a fund house with competitive sales charge?
FSM doesn't seem to carry it. sad.gif

Pink, I notice you have Hwang SIF in your portfolio. Can share which fund house you use and the sales charge? smile.gif
*
U like HSIF too? tongue.gif

Mine...bought thru EON Bank (now HLB). The last time I topped up...January 2012. Standard SC...3%. doh.gif

I'm getting annualised returns of 10%+ from HSIF. Low volatility some more. Been having headache on whether should I continue keeping it, cos going to the bank to transact is such a trouble. doh.gif

Tips - Buy Hwang Select Dividend Fund and Hwang Select Bond Fund thru FSM as HSIF "alternative", in proportion of 30% HSDF + 70% HSBF e.g. RM150 HSDF + RM350 HSBF. Look familiar? HSIF's asset allocation is 70% bonds, 30% dividend-yielding equities. brows.gif

HSDF SC@FSM=2%
HSBF SC@FSM=1.5%
(30%x2%)+(70%x1.5%)=1.65% whistling.gif

Think...think... ph34r.gif
