i would really like to bring up my discontent in a recent issue with a Moderator ianho!

The matter is regarding his thread here: http://forum.lowyat.net/topic/686474

i simply asked him regarding the major differences between the item he's selling with a similar type i've seen else where due to a very large price gap..this morning i found my post deleted and being allegedly accused of 'disturbing' his thread, i quote:

QUOTE(ianho @ May 3 2008, 12:17 AM)
Thread cleaned. Please keep ur 2 sen or what ever sens u have in ur own pockets.
*
from this issue i feel he is abusing his powers/authority as a Mod and simply removing forumer's post without any question.

what sort of attitude is this, what more being shown by a Moderator..i've seen regular dealers here at LYN with much better customer service!! mad.gif

I'm movin this to the main site/helpdesk.
*
thx for relocating the thread!

back to the issue, i'm quite new at LYN and nvr thought there would be moderators that would handle the matter this way..

i'm not saying all moderators are bad because in this short time i've seen a few common names with good reputation..

also this issue made me wonder how moderators are selected...i thought they would have to be competent and trustworthy in their duty sweat.gif

moderators are not allowed to remove postings on sales threads unless they have an absolutely valid reason to do so. While waiting for ianho's explanation, would you be kind enough to explain why you posted two comments using two seperate accounts one after the other on the same thread?

While you might have had a very good case if you only posted once, i sense you've got something up your sleeve to suddenly post two comments, 7 minutes apart on a rival product using two seperate accounts which we know either both belong to you, or to someone who shares the same PC as you.
*
sure thing, and yes this is a shared pc so my friend (i can even disclose the LYN ID to you in PM if you wish) posted a comment as well..

Product A (sold by mod at LYN), and Product B (sold elsewhere) - both are similar products

i was asking about Product A compared to Product B, my friend later added his experience on Product B..

and i quote:

QUOTE(se7en @ May 3 2008, 02:17 PM)
moderators are not allowed to remove postings on sales threads unless they have an absolutely valid reason to do so.
*
so i'd really like to know what his valid reason is because i dont see myself 'flaming' or 'spamming' at his thread..

*i sincerely hope as an Admin u would not be biased against any particular side on this matter (coz goodness knows how mods get their status in the first place anyway)

P.S. if u sense i have something up my sleeve, then you must forgive me for saying this..
because i personally think the other party selling Product B is a dedicated site which sells their items internationally..the market is pretty much (actually very much) larger than here on LYN, so why would i be trying to do anything?

QUOTE(tomatos @ May 3 2008, 12:28 PM)
Looks like the same issue with goldfries sales.
*
p.s. altho this might be a little off topic, i hope someone can enlighten me on the past issue with LYN ID: goldfries? (perhaps in private if you will)

what was the question anyway?
*
i asked what is the major difference between his product and a similar sold elsewhere because the price difference is quite big...thats pretty much it

I just went back to check on ianho's thread:
"(WTS) Spudz microfiber SLR lens cleaning cloth"

and it appears the whole thread has been removed, can't find it in the forum list and the link on his nickname is dead.

I'd have thought it would be common sense that if two people sell similar items, one shouldn't go questioning the other's pricing in public. Most anyone would see it as an attempt to interfere with his sales.

Wouldn't it have been wiser to PM him instead? You'd have done the same had the situations been reversed.
*
well to be specific, i'm no expert in micro-fibre cloths...so there was a huge price gap (RM9+ and RM30+) i was just wondering what's diff and that's that.

i dont see why ppl take things so negatively, it's like a paranoia that every moment someone is trying to jeapordise your sale or something..
i mean there are people who do, and there are people who don't..so why jump to conclusions?

QUOTE(cstkl1 @ May 3 2008, 05:02 PM)
eh TS afer hearing the whole story
dude

ianho had a valid reason..
Cause of this two things

1. Ure comments were to disrupt trade ( whether u realised it or not)
2. Dually accounts on the same ip address... only u and god knows whether its actually one person or two different person.. which makes ure comments in his thread questionable.
3. whatever issue i had with ian in the past.. he doesnt do this

a) Does things for profit etc.. .. but of course he needs a little for the work he is doing
b) Doesnt recommend low quality products. The product he recommends usually has high quality and he is very fussy on this ..
Price of products depends on quality/volume etc/cost of bringing it in..

second did u even pm him before posting ??

Looks like the longer this thread goes the more ure burying ureself.
*
i left a post on his thread, and since the entire thread is gone now clearly he has probably seen it..

and ur list of things, are based on your personal experience with ian right?
well i'm just sorry i can't share the same good experience as you did..

if you feel this isnt getting anywhere fair enough, i don't think it will either coz now his thread is gone, till now he hasn't come here to rectify the issue..

all ur assumptions may seem against me, but so far solid facts don't appear to be..

only goodness knows what's goin on in the admin/staff/mod sector of LYN.
so as vikingw2k said, i dont want to generalise...to you good hearts out there (particularly the mods) this isn't directed at you..

Well, I don't see why you couldn't have pm'd him instead of starting what many would consider a price bash in his sales thread. Why couldn't you have had the common courtesy to keep it private?

It's not paranoia, it's common sense. You just don't question another seller about his prices in public.
*
i'm sure you've done it before in any other stall throughout ur life..don't tell me you've never told any dealer/supplier/seller/retailer:

"so expesnive ar"
"the other shop cheaper leh"

or anything like that throughout your life...we're all hypocrites i know, so try not to make it too obvious...

maybe i should've pmed him..but why the sudden thread removal? why no explanations till now? he's been on..what happen to customer service?

i'm going to very well mention names now..siewkahow, i did question his pricing before in his very own thread, he didn't go all "remove that post!!!"

this is pointless coz apparently assumptions here seem to be making the judgement, not solid facts.

if she/he reports that you are disturbing/jeopardizing the sales, mod might consider (based upon their discretion) to remove the disturbing post.
*
don't get me wrong, my intentions of that post was not whether he reported or not.

it's merely none but an excellent example of how a dealer attended to his/her potential customer...

QUOTE(malaysianPotato @ May 3 2008, 05:32 PM)
A customer bargaining is NOT the same as a competitor attacking another seller's prices. If you can't tell the difference...

I don't bargain, I wear a Chuck Norris shirt, let my beard grow out and tell the seller how much I'll buy his product for. There is no "oh, so expensive" or w/e.

Who's judging? We're simply explaining to you why your posts were removed. Why his thread was removed is completely unrelated to the issue.
*
why his thread was removed i dont bother anymore, and thank you for having the courtesy to explain to me why my post was removed coz apparently he can't do it himself..

my best regards to you for ur time and explanation...thread closed

err, okay...i guess that pretty much says it all then..

no need to further this discussion/argument anymore...

leclair

its like this

ure getting the wrong analogy
y not when in pc fair
u go to a booth
where u see a lot of ppl surrounding it
u suddenly go out loud saying hey the other shop is selling cheaper..

remember this is a PUBLIC forum
ure disrupting trade whether u realize is or not..
*
ok perhaps i have mistaken there, fair enough but i dont really see the point of this continuing anymore

from the two quotes i see above...
just forget it, maybe one of the mods was aware of it and the other wasn't..or however u'd like to put it

P.S. if it seemed i was disrupting the sale, then i am aplogising for my misintentions.
