QUOTE(Seremban Angler @ May 2 2008, 09:20 AM) The only advantage Celcom has for me is more UMTS and HSDPA coverage area. true that bro.. I've learnt that celcom has better coverage 3g-3.5g vs maxis.. but anyways, maxis also quietly/slowly expanding to my observation

Well you could opt for either Option or Sierra which are the commonly used modems besides the Huawei and the two brands can be easily found in most shops selling 3G modems.

QUOTE(ashrafinaz @ May 2 2008, 11:11 PM) which one is better?how much price for both of them?... There is no way saying which one is better, pretty much on which you prefer since I think both of them are good. You can consider the ZTE MF622 too. Hunt for the modems in the Garage Sales section under the Networking Related Items subforum.

QUOTE(wrigglerr @ May 2 2008, 09:02 PM) I was thinking of getting D68................you said 'many of them' means the D98 has no cap? Only d68 got capped? That means your Internet speed can go up to 3.2 MB which is kinda unlikely to happen that often. If you can get around 1.5 MB then you can fly already. D68 got capped with the connection 384kbps. And for 5GB policy, I heard that only applies to D68, very unfair for us.

Yeah according to their website recently, they do now :-) altho there is a early termination fee, before 12months RM200 after 12months RM200 is WAIVED :-) cheers!

IF I were to be given option between Celcom 3G or Maxis 3G, I'll definitely choose Celcom over Maxis. Reasons are wider coverage and no contract!

Dont be so sure of celcom yet. I was not able to connect at all to celcom server for the past few days.. When I called them up, they say having some upgrading process. When I tried to connect using my motorola and n73, it shows there packet data connection not available and network not available. Did any of you guys experienced this????

Well I don't think so because D98 will have higher speeds and therefore they will use up the bandwidth much faster than the D68 users, I don't see why Celcom would impose it on D68 only since D68 has a maximum speed of 384kbps only.

I'm on Celcom 3G now since my Streamyx is a bit slow, so I just turn off the router and switch to Celcom. Can't do any speed test as I hardly get into speedtest page and even on Firefox add-on too.

According to their customer service, D68 users will be capped once it reach 5GB. And i ask them how slow it will be and he said 'very slow'!!

I know that, is my statement confusing? Yeah, very unfair right? They can use fast speed, no 5GB policy... Just because they pay more. Gave up on Celcom, back to Streamyx.

Well I doubt so since the Fair Usage Policy has been there all along just that they didn't impose it from the beginning. Also other countries like Australia do use this method to try and combat heavy downloaders especially with BitTorrent. However if the service is pretty bad then we could complain on that.
