Some of the important notes. brows.gif

During the early part of Spring Training 2008, I needed to decide for good if I was going to stick with Canon or switch. I tested a few different angles and situations at an Atlanta Braves pre-season game. It was a 1 pm start on a hot sunny day in Florida, and the camera couldn't perform. I was stunned how the focus tracking of the batters running toward me in the first base photo box weren't sharp. My overheads of Tim Hudson pitching weren't sharp anywhere in the frame. Photos of the Braves shortstop backlit (he wasn't moving) wasn't focused. I could no longer "trust" my Mark III.

Why do I need to think about different custom function settings? I feel that the camera's AF should work great in ALL situations. With my EOS 1V, I never changed settings. With my EOS 1DmII, I never changed settings. Images from those cameras were in focus. On a shoot, I need to think about the lighting, the exposure and connecting with the subject. I do not need to think about the "-7 AF micro adjustment" or the CF settings #2 since it is a bright and sunny day.

The Nikon D3 requires no change in settings when you go from hot sun to an air conditioned room or from an action shoot to portrait job. The camera just works.

new technology is always better, it will be a total failure if the D3 is not better. If you want to bring ur company forward, you have to do better than your competitor.

ACtually MArk III issue are solved if I am not mistaken... Just make sure you have newer serial number like 55xxx and above...

But the only mark III issue that concern me is the switch to Lition-Ion, which should teorically have some temperature limitation just like the D3 known issue...

And second issue with mark III is not full frame... For all sport, potriat shooting with tele are a big welcome... but talk about wide angle... sad.gif My 17-40L will become 22mm widest.... cry.gif

So far that's the only 2 issues of my real concern on mark III... rclxub.gif

Screw em all, A winnar is a Leica M7 with Summicron and Velvia 100 film (or Kodachrome, depending on what you like)

Anyways the Mark III's problem is well known and Canon has acknowledged it with issues of viewfinder misallignment. It should have been fixed i guess.

only n00bs will make it into a war.

sane-minded people will discuss properly. if there's a flaw, what's there to defend?

yeah. see, some people regard switching as traitor. that's really stupid.

if i find the other brand suits my taste better and serves me better or if suddenly one day i find Nikon's output is towards my preference- why can't i change? right?

i do come by some people with such level of mentality. oh you change, you no good. you traitor. you stupid for going Canon.......... balbalbalbla.

instead of bashing / defending. i'd rather have discussions where people actually learn from one another how to avoid, overcome or even make use of an equipment's weakness. smile.gif

On that article, i felt more like a user problem than camera problem to me. Else, canon might announce a huge recall liao.

Aik yah yah... Canon and Nikon... again wink.gif
It's all about "trust" and perception. It's like BMW and Merc. If you like BMW, chances are you will find good things abt it and bad things abt Merc wink.gif

But after hundreds of models and years of development, I should say the technology now is good both for Canon and Nikon. Just depends on how they position it and how your buy their ideas of positioning. It's marketing at work wink.gif

laugh.gif so i guess you never followed the Mark III problem then.

To those who's been catching up with the Mark 3 news, do you guys noticed that most of the focus prob, yada yada, etc are from those countries that have 4 seasons? cold temperature, hot temperature, etc. How many Mark 3 users in Msia that have the focus problem like those in the States and Europe?
