Bootloader 3.9:
was the first bootloader to be used on iPhones that were made on week 45 or earlier in 2007. This Bootloader [3.9] allows the iPhone SimFree (IPSF) paid unlock aswell as GeHot's IPSF-like free unlock. Also, this bootloader allows you to downgrade your Baseband (which controls your Wi-Fi, EDGE and Calls) firmware. Downgrading baseband is useful when you updated by mistake or/and want to go back down to a previous iPhone firmware. Bootloader 3.9 does not allow bootloader update

Bootloader 4.6:
is the current bootloader being placed on iPhones as of Week 45 and later iPhones of 2007 and all 2008 iPhones. This bootloader does not allow your baseband to be downgraded, so once you updated, you are stuck there. Also, this bootloader does not allow the IPSF unlock. As you may remember this bootloader caused many problems when it was reviewed by the Dev-Team to look for a software unlock. Now, thanks to GeoHot, this bootloader [4.6] can be unlocked. One important exploit in this bootloader is that it can allow you to downgrade itself to the earlier 3.9 which is good if you want to downgrade baseband or apply IPSF-like unlock.

It's alot of work to downgrade. If you can just keep to your firmware for now as Apple will seed fw 2.1 soon. Just a matter of when will we be able to pwn wil fw 2.1.

1) Just Jailbreak your phone and leave the unlock untick.

2) When your phone is unlock officially, it will remain unlock and jailbreak won't lock the phone.

The phone in UK is not offically unlock. You may end up with an ipod. So to be safe, get it from S'pore which is officially unlock or browse in garage sale as some are selling S'pore sets.

I don't really understand your questions but most of the current apps on fw 2.0.x will not work with fw 1.1.4 vise versa.

But the band, pianist and drummer has already been ported over to fw 2.0.x in AppStore which u need to purchase.

Anyway, about your friends phone. You can use software like winpwn 2.5 to unlock the iphone but you need to know what frimware tha phone is using.

Goto Settings, click Mail, Contacts, Calender.

Look for Import SIM Contacts. This only import the sim contacts.

If you need to add your other contacts that's not in the simcard, you need to add them in your Addressbook application in windows or mac. Then sync your Addressbook via iTunes. You should have all your contacts in the phone.

Press the the volume control once to silence the call tone. You can completely decline a call by pressing the power button.

Lazy they are..answers find them not.

Does it get to your skin when ppl are lazy...hahahha..Well, we got our hands full of music arrangements to do ..So better work for money. Can buy more gadgets and softwares.
