if you're going to mix it with coke or anything apart from water ... then get the cheapest whisky on offer.
Taste wise to me :
JW Black - peaty (smokey flavour)
Glenlivet 12 - sweet
Macallan 12 - smooth (ie: no after taste)
Where are you flying in from ? If Singapore then it's cheaper to get in Changi. Bonus is you get purchase 1 bottle at departure airport, and 1 or 2 bottles during arrival in M'sia, depending on your travel duration.
I'm coming to and fro from Jakarta almost every month now.
CGK (Jakarta) prices are in USD and its more expensive than KUL.
Please note for travellers, CGK does NOT have alcohol duty free coming into their country, only exiting.
I started with Macallan 18 some years ago but tadak duit for so expensive. Atleast not a full bottle.
I do enjoy smooth sweet ones. Which was actually one of the reasons I gravitated towards scotch after that Mac18 experience. I'm strictly a social drinker (except for lemon lime bitters

) but found scotch ok and becoming the drink I order when the occasion calls for it.
Besides JW's collection of 200mlx4 bottles (RM498@KLIA@ DFS), any place I can get samplers, either foc or buy? Especially Macallan

Can be loose or 100ml, doesnt matter.
I saw Glenfiddich Age of Discovery Mix 200mlx3 bottles, 19 yrs (RM420@KLIA@ DFS) but I don't think its what I'm looking for.
