plan to travel to syd next year feb

can i do the ETA now and do i have high chance to get approved even though my intended travel date is still far away?

and is it advisable that i do ETA first or i make hotel/flight booking first?

update: applied for ETA on 9/7 but was then asked to fill up immi. submitted tons of docs (without flight tics) just to prove that i’ll be coming back to malaysia. visa granted on 12/7
