There are few ways to identify whether your xbox 360 comes with the new falcon chip or not.
The first or the best way to see if you have a 65nm (Falcon) console without opening the box. All you need to do is look at the information label (lot #, team label) on the side of the box and look at the power information.

If the label says 175W, then the console is a Falcon console. If the label says 203W, then use one of the other two methods to see if the console is Falcon.

If you find a 175W console, you 100% have a Falcon console. The new 175W PSU will NOT work with old (90nm) console. The plug that goes into the console has been changed to all plastic, and has a different layout then the old plug. There are already multiple revisions of the 175W PSUs, but there is no difference between them.

For example :
Team: FDOU
Lot #: 0734 (Halo model)
MFGD: 08.18.2007
(depends on your model)

p/s : sometimes the box labeling wattage is not completely accurate, you have to make sure to check mfgd/Lot# or flashlight test the inductors.

Once you get the Xbox 360 out of the packaging, there are two more tests to figure out whether or not you've got a falcon - both of which can be done without opening the Xbox itself. All you'll need here is a flashlight.

Stand the Xbox 360 on its side (hard drive side down) and shine the flashlight in through the holes in the grey plastic. What you're looking for is the side of the CPU heatsink. The older, non-falcon, Xbox 360s had a heatpipe running through the CPU's heatsink - if you see a copper heatpipe then you've got an older console. If, however, you see no copper heatpipe then you've got one with the new CPU heatsink, potentially a falcon.

The final test is, once more, a flashlight test. This time, instead of looking for the copper heatpipe you're counting the number of inductors on the motherboard near the edge you're peering in. Three green inductors means you've got an older motherboard, two means you've got a new Falcon board.

An original Xbox 360 motherboard, three green inductors on the left are visible from the outside if you've got a good flash light and a keen eye.

I bought my xbox 2 weeks ago, and it is halo limited edition. btu now i'm a bit confused,
manufacture date is 2008,
175 powerbrick
I torchlight at my box and I found only 2 inductor and an extra heatsink next to the heatsink above the CPU (which is characteristic of a potential falcon unit) thumbup.gif

but what's weird is, my heatsink on top of the CPU have the copper heatpipe which mean the characteristic of a potential zephyr unit....urm...I'm a bit confused now.....have both zephyr and falcon characteristic...what the hell (maybe zephyr and falcon married and produce (ZepCon??????)..who knows) rclxub.gif

btw...anyone know about what I'm facing right now...can anyone tell me is it my xbox is a zephyr or falcon chipset???

hmm.gif
