Once you've unlocked the iPhone, it should work with any carrier.
For MMS settings, please refer to the iPhone Thread V7.

QUOTE(alpha_boy @ Apr 27 2008, 01:41 AM) I went through many forums on this web but coudn't find a proper answer. Can anyone please guide me to activate my iphone on Maxis network? I'm not using 3G and don't want to either. I have a hotlink simcard (prepaid subscriber). What are the settings I need to key in? How do I activate the iphone? I want to use GPRS. I will appreciate if someone can give me information on whether I can connect my iphone to the wireless streamyx connection in my house? I have a wireless Netgear router to which my laptop is connected. Can I? If yes, how? Will Maxis charge me for streaming/downloading/browsing? I'm on RM88 streamyx broadband package. Thanks! look like your iphone is locked for AT&T. gotta j-break it. you may use yr home wireless or free wifi for internet access instead of edge. gotta to disable edge using "bosspref".

First you gonna jailbreak it and yeah you must get "bosspref" or "services" to control your Wifi/bluetooth/edge. so you can just turn your edge off whenever you're not using it since it's gonna drain your battery. For GPRS setting to use as MMS here are some details you needed for Maxis user: MMSC : http://172.16.74.100:10021/mmscProxy: 202.75.133.49 APN: net Username: maxis Password: wap Just dl SwirlyMMS if you need to send pic. Hope it helps you.

Jailbreak = crack the phone to for application addon (breaking out of jail) Unlock = remove carrier limitation So, remember those terms to help the new guys.

But, I can't download applications (addons or watever such as bosspref, swirlymms) until i jailbreak it, is that true? How do I check if its already jailbroken? My iphone version is 1.1.4

Usually if you see that there's an "Installer" icon in the iPhone, then it means that it is already Jailbroken.
You can connect to your WiFi at home, just turn Wifi on and connect to your own network! iPhone will choose wifi over edge whenever available. As said above, if you want to permanently disable EDGE in fear of data charges, you can install "BossPref" tool.

I do not seem to be able to disconnect from the internet at all, my bills are sky high. I have tried with the settings and with bossprefs but nothing seems to work. I still have the E on my screen. What can I do other than switching off my phone? Thanks!

The E sign will be there even when EDGE is disable.. it's just showing you EDGE is available If boss prefs din work for u....maybe u can try services...works like boss prefs too..

I have tried both and it says EDGE doesn't work but on my MAXIS phone bill I still pay for being connected 24 hours a day. THis is both with setting and bossprefs.

maybe ur prob similar to mine... after upgrade to 1.1.4 & activate/unlocked/JB with Ziphone 3.0 I cannot use EDGE - EDGE was fine before with 1.1.1 Firmware.
I dun really care bout this matter coz i dun use EDGE on iphone.. MMS/3G done with my pda.
Try this:
Go Settings --> General --> Reset --> Reset Network Settings
In BossPrefs. switch EDGE to ON and check it got IP no or not? If no IP no, EDGE not connected to maxis server.. i guess.
If got IP no and you still unable to connect, maybe ur DNS IP on the iPhone are not correct.
ermm maybe somebody else got a better solution?
