first off - apologies if i am posting this in the wrong section; am relatively new here.
i cracked the plastic screen housing of my blackberry 8300 and i am heartbroken. i'm looking to replace the housing (from an authorised dealer if possible), so if anyone could point me in the right direction, i'd really appreciate it.
either an authorised blackberry dealer/anyplace that can do a housing replacement.
screen is cracked, but the LCD is fine. prices would also be greatly appreciated.
again - thanks in advance.

If you're with Maxis or Celcom wouldn't they be able to assist? If you didn't buy it from them try messaging this guy 'bearbrick' in lowyat. I believe he has contacts for parts. You can also just order your parts online which I did off ebay and get someone to fix it for you locally. What's your BB Pin? This post has been edited by Reuben: Apr 26 2008, 05:03 PM

thanks reuben - will check the user out and send him a PM. my service provider is maxis, and they said there is a wait of up till 3 months - which is ridiculous. they also wouldn't give me a price quote, but said it would be in the region of rm300 which imo was a rip off. found a store in summit who was able to get the housing, but gave me a quote of rm280 which is ridiculous! i got my blackberry from before i got back to malaysia; unlocked it and am using it without the bb connect. i don't need all that - just text and calls. the phone was free, anyway. but i've fallen in love with it, and feel like i cannot live without a BB; hence the dire need for fixing the screen ASAP edit: reubrn; i can't seem to find the user "bearbrick"; need your assistance if you don't mind, mate. Added on April 27, 2008, 10:23 amgot it. bearbrick replied big sigh of relief from me. This post has been edited by r3kahsttub: Apr 27 2008, 10:23 AM

I have a Blackberry Pearl 8100 which I got from T.Mobile in the US. Now, that I'm here, I can't find any support for my phone. The track ball is not working as well and housing is in a deplorable condition. I have been looking around for someone or an official service center (original distributor) for Blackberry and I faced the same problem as r3kahsttub, which is bloody expensive.
Well, I don't mind replacing the trackball with an original one, but the housing is not cheap. The metal side housing and plastic housing, is what I'm looking for. If anyone can point me into the right direction, that would be great!

Dear ALL -
Looking for the Blackberry Pearl Navigation Ball Ring. The ring that goes around the Ball is broken.
cysjon - Can you update the thread here if you manage to find a new housing? I will let you know if I am successful in Low Yat with the same.
Thanks and regards,
monchichi

From eBay, I see that they sell the whole assembly for the trackball which includes that ring you are talking about.
For my Blackberry Pearl, the chrome part of the trackball assmebly is slightly cracked, but the trackball is still in place.
I'm quite sure that Low Yat, you will be able to find something there. I will check in Digital Mall if any. Will update if I find anything there.

I tried looking for it in Digital Mall, could not find any, please do let me know if you find anything there, as its closer to me than LYP. I will drop by LYP this week and check the scene out for BB.. The ring alone is available on ebay for 1.99 US $, but its crazy to ship 1 item and pay like 5 US$ for the shipping .. wishing both of us luck lol

I went to Low Yat during the long weekend, and found the original distributors for Blackberry. They have quoted me about RM300++ for the housing and trackball. But they need to reconfirm this with their HQ in Singapore.
Another retailer in LYP, quoted about the same as well.
Both of them said that they don't have the stock now. So, they would need to order the parts and thsi would likely take up to two weeks. Darn it. And I thought that they are producing AP sets for the Blackberry Pearl already, which would make finding parts for this set easy.

Thanks for the update..sad that its expensive and also takes time...I was also under the impression that the AP sets would be available by now... Can you give me a phone number or shop name of the two retailers in LYP ? I will try and see if they can place an order just for the trackball and ring... thanks!

The original distributor is at Plaza Berjaya, their shop notes nothing about Blackberry but under Motorola. Anyways, their number is 03-21412330. They are apparently are acting as the collection centre for Blackberry phones. Stock comes in from Singapore.
As for the other one, their shop is part of the MANY phone shops, I've asked in LYP. They said that need to order as well. I'm not really confident about their little deal though, since I'm going to pay roughly about the same price as the original distributor.
Anyways, I've been trying to contact this guy who advertised an AP set 8100 Pearl, in Lelong.com, to see whether he has parts as well. I haven't gotten any reply yet. Will update if anything.

Just buy through ebay. Quite safe. If you need it urgently of course. Go to Crackberry.com and search. There are allot of members selling off some stuff there and there's also a step-by-step guide on how to change the faceplate, disassemble a whole blackberry etc. GOOD LUCK!!!
Note: Had a friend buy some accessories for my Curve like the Desktop Charger, Leather Holster, extra Faceplate and he shipped to me. Not bad pricing too. ehehehe.... More or less like ebay bro!
CHeers!

Hi gfunk11,
I can't seem to find what I want from Crackberry.com. I mean, I need a whole new housing and trackball (i think). The housing is so I can get it back to looking like new, as it has tons of scratches and the track ball is acting up on me.
The best seems to be on eBay, but I'm finding it hard for retailers from US to ship it over. Plus it is expensive too.
I'll still try to get the local official distributer to get the neccessary parts and also service it for me.

Try the Forums section where crackberry addicts buy sell stuff. You may find something there. You can nego price a well I think. BlackBerry Forums at CrackBerry.com > CrackBerry Cafe - Social Forums! Another place that has some Buy & Sell is http://www.blackberryforums.com that's a good place to search as well. In eBay, narrow down your search by using the Advanced Search and specifying the Ship To Malaysia. All the BEST!!! we really can't get much stuff here in Malaysia... that's a shame... Cheers!
