From qj.net
Here's a bit of bad news for Rockstar Games, Take-Two Interactive, and everyone who condemns software piracy: Grand Theft Auto 4 (Xbox 360, PlayStation 3)'s Xbox 360 version has been leaked on the internet and thousands are downloading it.
The 6.36GB file is currently out on torrent, and those with consoles modded to play backups will be able to get a headstart on the game six days before everyone else can. The number of users participating in the download of the image is reportedly growing pretty fast.
We're hoping that consumers will make the right decisions if they ever find the file on the web. Sure, it's a cheap way to get ahead, but is it worth legal liabilities and the probable lack of online play? You make the choice.

For every massive hype game, leak is bound to happen. Anyway it's still a relief to see the support of original games for our local scene. The order for 360/PS3 GTA IV is actually more than Halo 3, according to Gamers Hideout. Just few more days, and Rockstar is slamming down any GTA IV leaked media they can find. So...not to worry too much, just wait till the official release date and enjoy the game together.

The so called 'leak' is sometimes a strategy to see the response of the gamers before the game is finally out. It's done in the recording industry, and major labels do it so often. It looks like the game industry is catching up in this 'leak-before-launch-day' strategy. Another marketing ploy.

Why would they want to see the response? I wonder.

QUOTE(1deception @ Apr 26 2008, 11:37 PM) The so called 'leak' is sometimes a strategy to see the response of the gamers before the game is finally out. Why see the response of the gamers when the answer is very obvious? only small publishers do that because they don't have enough funds to spend on marketing, advertising and send the game to professional gamers to publish their review on mag. Recording industry usually don't give budgets for marketing unless you are some big shot and guaranteed profit gain, usually its the manager/singer's family have to make up for it so what choices do they have?
