Bought the Asus 1000h yesterday, not at PC Fair but at Gadget shop in PJ Electronic Mall section 14. I think Gadget shop is a branch of Evernew. After some haggling, i bought it for Rm1999 (quoted price 2099), and addition of Rm20 for 2GB upgrade.

In fact this is my third UMPC, after the 701 and 900.

They are offering 18 months instalment for selected credit cards without any interest, i.e 1999/18. I think it is a good bargain. I've been thinking of buying MSI Wind or 1000h for the last one week, but the 6 cell battery life of the Asus won me over. Also, Asus has a more reliable and better quality reputation than the MSI.

It is fast, no lag and light weight. I don't feel much weight difference from the 901.

So those tinkering between MSI Wind and Asus, my advice is to get the 1000h, you'll not regret it.

Of course price will drop in the coming days, but can you wait?

what do u guys use the eeepc for?

seems to me that it is not much useful if you plan to use it at home...

u can get a bigger screen laptop with that price (RM1999 for 14.1")

don't tell me that you guys sit in starbuck everyday with your eeepc

to me, its too small & too slow to do stuff other than browsing...even typing on this is ridiculous, so forget about doing assignment

but the netbook is just barely enough to install win xp and run antivirus in the b/ground. The keyboard is crap, and the screen is too small to do long typing assignment (without you getting headache).
I know comparing both is mute because of the price, but again, to me this 8.9" UMPC is just another gadget, and not something that you want to replace be it desktop or laptop.

But other than that, I dont see any significant use of the netbook....

You can use the extra memory for RAMdisk. I set arond 512MB for RAMdisk and remaining 1.5GB for system. Too bad 945 board can utilize up to 128MB for graphics only.

I think 901 will be too slow for Vista. The 4GB SSD will be not enough even for nlited install.

So meaning I can run that on my 901 just the same as running Windows XP? Thats provided its vlited correct?  I wonder if the startup and shutdown time will be affected. My machines running Windows Vista actually took longer to startup compared with my office machine which runs on Windows XP and on a very last year specifications. Both machines have been optimized.

Today, one dealer in Digital Mall PJ wanted to sell the 1000H to me for 1699.

Is this really cheap?

Probably you need to do some setting on MSN application's side. Try the webcam and mike setup. It'll allow you to tune the color output of your webcam and other settings.
