QUOTE(roksta @ Aug 3 2008, 08:28 AM) Bought the Asus 1000h yesterday, not at PC Fair but at Gadget shop in PJ Electronic Mall section 14. I think Gadget shop is a branch of Evernew. After some haggling, i bought it for Rm1999 (quoted price 2099), and addition of Rm20 for 2GB upgrade. Good buy there =D. May i know what are the selected cards they accept? In fact this is my third UMPC, after the 701 and 900. They are offering 18 months instalment for selected credit cards without any interest, i.e 1999/18. I think it is a good bargain. I've been thinking of buying MSI Wind or 1000h for the last one week, but the 6 cell battery life of the Asus won me over. Also, Asus has a more reliable and better quality reputation than the MSI. It is fast, no lag and light weight. I don't feel much weight difference from the 901. So those tinkering between MSI Wind and Asus, my advice is to get the 1000h, you'll not regret it. Of course price will drop in the coming days, but can you wait? |

So far i went to Digital Mall, Evernew are the ones giving the best prices
I was thinking, if there is any problem i can just bring it back to Asus directly. |

QUOTE(iZuDeeN @ Aug 4 2008, 09:22 PM) what do u guys use the eeepc for? For those that travel alot, its much easier to bring than a full sized laptop. Typing on the 901 is a chore, but i tried on the 1000H and it was pretty easy. Screen might be small but its ok because im young seems to me that it is not much useful if you plan to use it at home... u can get a bigger screen laptop with that price (RM1999 for 14.1") don't tell me that you guys sit in starbuck everyday with your eeepc to me, its too small & too slow to do stuff other than browsing...even typing on this is ridiculous, so forget about doing assignment Actually the whole concept of small and light portable laptops are like what Sony SZ and TZ series are. While SZ and TZ are super light compact notebooks geared at the travelling professional, while the EEE PC and netbooks are geared towards net users, they both can be used for either situations. The only difference is, the SZ and TZ series (plus other small sized notebooks) cost from RM5000-8000, while the netbooks cost from RM900-2000. Of course there are differences, but its mostly the same |

QUOTE(iZuDeeN @ Aug 4 2008, 09:40 PM) but the netbook is just barely enough to install win xp and run antivirus in the b/ground. The keyboard is crap, and the screen is too small to do long typing assignment (without you getting headache). I know comparing both is mute because of the price, but again, to me this 8.9" UMPC is just another gadget, and not something that you want to replace be it desktop or laptop. But other than that, I dont see any significant use of the netbook.... But yeah, its not a laptop/desktop replacement. Its a compliment device, like a PDA i guess =.=. |

I agree with you on the yellowish thing. I notice that the keys has a little beige tint onto it. I guess after much usage it should turn yellow. Hopefully there are key replacements by then, or it can be cleaned. I was gunning for the black, but there wasnt any stock. But the white has one advantage, which is the fingerprints are not visible, as compared to the black.

QUOTE(Superman7 @ Aug 6 2008, 10:25 AM) Read an article from notebookreview.com regarding the RAM for Atom based processor.. Most user reports otherwise actually, especially for Vista. because the onboard VGA uses shared memory, its good to have more RAM, so there are extras for the VGA to use The full article could be found here |

QUOTE(shady @ Aug 6 2008, 10:47 AM) The 901 with 2Gb ram would be able to run Vista SP1 smoothly, and according to some benchmarks made, synthetic benchmarks carried out in Vista yielded higher results as compared to XP. As long as its either the Wind, 901 or 1000H, it'll run great =D. |

Thats provided its vlited correct? it might take slightly longer to bootup, but performance shud be equal if not better (according to the benchmarks done)i've yet to install, will do it soon =D This post has been edited by daijoubu: Aug 6 2008, 09:29 PM |

Installed Speedy Vista Ultimate SP1, and so far seems pretty good. Everything is smooth, fast loading, etc. Gonna run 3dmark03 now.
Previously on XP with stock drivers, my 3dmark03 was 800. With new drivers on XP, it rose to 811. We shall see how it fares on Vista |

Benchedmarked my Vista and suprisingly, i got 733 only as compared to 811 from XP. Weird
The memory allocated to the GMA has now inceased to 256MB as compared to 128MB from XP. Overall, it runs Vista bloody smooth without hickups. The visuals are good, Aero is on, boot up time is good, but the bootup from hibernate abit slow. Gaming wise, havent really tested it as compared to Vista. But nevertheless, im sticking with Vista as it looks nicer |

QUOTE(davidmak @ Aug 9 2008, 12:32 AM) Probably you need to do some setting on MSN application's side. Try the webcam and mike setup. It'll allow you to tune the color output of your webcam and other settings. Therein lies the problem. Under the Audio and Video setup, its fine. Shows fine, and the exposure changes automatically, as it should. But when you go into Webcam settings, or if you start a video call, the video show is very dark, as if the exposure setting is turned off. Problem isnt there when you use skype. |
