Dell officially explains the faulty NVIDIAs >> http://direct2dell.com/one2one/archive/200...top-owners.aspx, which includes M1330.

Solution? A12 BIOS, which makes the fan go full blown most of the time. Noisier, kills the fan faster, and drains more battery... while pushing it out of the warranty time frame. Suggest extending warranty or "sabo" yr M1330 when it's gonna end for one last replacement  doh.gif .

Take note, it's NVIDIA's fault.  mad.gif

hoho..waiting for this.

i hope dell will come out with a long term solution as i can see changing fan behavior is not a long term solution for GPU overheat problem. perhaps, do a recall program to change the motherboard with the right GPU.

this is not a solution but they said is prevention or prolong your system.
dell confirm definitely will not do a recall at this moment. no long term solution, dell will only solve the issue case by case basic.

lor..like that maybe we should make petition to dell asking to repair the GPU. im afraid after waranty period is over, my xps will be useless. by that time, repairing cost is not an option. considering a new one is much better.

We were talking about it  smile.gif , one page back.

On to another topic. Part of Studio's design came from the XPS series. What about an Inspiron that looks identical to M1330, but with less metal and more plastic? Inspiron 13 >> http://www.notebookreview.com/default.asp?newsID=4526

maybe it didnt come with nvidia GPU. im still wondering what should i do for the heat issue of my xps to make sure it can serve me well at least 3 years. unsure.gif

my screen have shown some symptoms of the graphic card failure. will expect total failure nearby. my waranty last till april. the colorful line appear and will hang my computer. but so far it recover after restart. flex.gif

it is good to get the motherboard replace within waranty period. otherwise will cost me a lot.

which reporting method is more effective? by email or by phone?

I know it's very hard to find the number. For some dumb reason dell decided that it's a good idea so that not many customers will call.. lol

i just got my mobo replaced. icon_idea.gif

to those who think your graphic start to 'show off', u can diagnose ur graphic by press F12 during switch on. then choose diagnostic on the menu.
by the time the diagnose reach the graphic test, the colorful vertical n horizontal lines appear. it will ask to continue 'lalalalalala'(i dont remember what the system ask). but at the moment, dont press anything, just hold on until the the color lines change to full screen color (color change periodically) at the same time computer will beep loud. just let it be..until error message appear.

this is what dell ask me to do when i called them to report. if your computer graphic got problem, during the test, u will see the lines or maybe jiggered screen or something unusual. then u know what to do. call dell!

my warranty last until this april. but extended warranty for nvidia issue until april 2010. so, i dont think i need to sell my unit. just use it untill 2010. by that time i am sure there are a lot to choose for replacement. hehe.

my m1330 now starting to get rainbow screen...sometimes use for one whole day without problem, sometimes 1hour got already.

too bad no more warranty, so im thinking to get my m1330 certified so can buy extend warranty, hopefully rainbow didnt show up when they test it. what u guys think...

if fail the certified test, then only change mobo. any idea how much for change mobo, can i choose to change the one without graphic card?

does ur xps still under extended waranty for graphic faulty? if yes, u can still get the mobo replaced for free. and yes with the same spec ( cannot change to non-nvidia)
