is dell xps good?? any comments?? for 3.5k laptop.. is over price or value for money for all the features??
*
The 3.5k version only comes with an integerated graphic card which I think it is a waste for such a beautiful system. You'll be better off with the GeForce 8400M GS at just above 4k.

Added on July 1, 2008, 4:36 pmlol i made it haha,
bad luck..the XPS silver sticker worn off when I take out from pouch.."S" not sticky though.

how to reduce or lower the temp of graphics...coz i check it roughly 60-75 C..which is bad
*
Your temperature is when it is idling ? If so then it is bad but if you are running some graphics intensive application then it is pretty good.

I'm on Vista 32 bit. My Nvidia driver version is 156.69 which is also the one that came with it. I tried other drivers and have no luck, the temperature will be at 70C on idle, only this driver gives me about 56C on idle.

I'm one of the XPS 1330 owner. Mine T7500, 2GB, 160GB HDD, 8400 128MB graphic, 2MP webcam.

May i know what is the button beside the Power button? Media, rite? How to use it? What for?
*
The touch sensitive media controls are to eject your disc, the play/pause/fast forward and also controlling the volume. Don't be afraid to touch them.

from my observation for 2nd day, the latest bios didnt improve much on thermal control.

Same thing here, but by default my temperature from day 1 of my laptop until several updates have not changed. However for some people, it does improve a little.

omg it is x3100
hmm
if i wanna change it to 8400gs can??
hmm if the processor is T8300 and 3gb ram
is it ok??
*
You can't change it to the 8400GS already. As for up to today, having a T8300 processor with 3GB RAM is sufficient enough.

oh
wao
cause i still got a thing wanna is about graphic
will it nice?
cause although i less use it to gaming
will the graphic of X3100 ok ??
cause i know desktop
but laptop noob
*
Well for light gaming the X3100 is decent enough. You might want to check online reviews of what the X3100 is capable of. Also since you have a desktop I would say you would prefer and better of gaming with the desktop.

o
i see
but when heard not 8400gs
really say true
very upsad
haha
hmm ~
i heard ppl x3100 not good
is it true?
*
Those who say that the X3100 is not good are those who most probably are used to a dedicated graphic card so the integerated graphic card is pretty much useless. You might want to check this out to see some of the benchmarks of what the X3100 is capable of. For me, it is already decent considering that it isn't a dedicated graphic card. On the bright side, with the X3100, your laptop will not be as hot as those who are on the 8400M GS.

Probably should consider one of the newer model. Like XPS Studio 13/15 with an ATI chip instead if you're looking for a better laptop GPU.

My M1330 nVidia GPU chip just went dead yesterday. :S

Waiting on Monday to get the tech support to get over here. I hope there'll be no problem as I'm in Korea right now. >_<
*
When you say dead does it mean that your screen just don't show anything anymore ? hmm.gif

ok.. seems Intel GMA version is much more forgiving compared to the nvidia model..  since i only use for surfing, ppt and excel, so GMA model should not be a prob for me.. thanks..
*
True and you might want to turn off some effects in Windows Vista to speed things up a little. smile.gif

can we add RAM into dell laptop by ourselves?
*
Yes you can and it is a pretty easy thing to do. Just locate the RAM slot at the bottom of your laptop and open the cover.

Will try. By the way, those of you who had your graphic card/motherboard replaced, how long does the technician take to do the replacement?

Just got my motherboard replaced. Everything is working fine now once again. However, my keyboard seems to be not flat after replacing, probably the wired beneath it is pushing it up. wink.gif

My Dell XPS M1330's right palm rest side is making a weird noise, I don't know how to describe the noise but it is something like a high pitch noise but it isn't very loud but people next to me can hear it. Anyone knows what parts is at the right side of the palm rest?

By the way, where do I go for extending my warranty? I've searched Dell's website and I only saw warranty extension for Inspiron laptops.
