Hi all,

Any of you guys using the strings above? What are your comments on them? Do they last as long as they claim and how much is it per pack?

I jsut swtiched from Daddarios to elixirs cos I find that my daddarios seem to tarnish pretty fast (a week or so sad.gif)

Just would like to hear from other long-standing users of elixirs smile.gif

I'm using the light gauge - 009s. I find that they are brighter than daddarios. And the tension is better on those strings.. esp on the wound ones. Snappier if there is a word for it.

My daddarios wound strings feels a little slack even new.

When you have a floyd guitar, I think it helps to have longer lasting strings.

At least you don't have to go thru the restringing process that often smile.gif. floyd owners would understand. smile.gif

hahha.... I thought I was the only one. It's the initial setup that's tricky, which I dread doing tongue.gif sometimes I end up paying the tech a bit extra to get a full restring done instead of doing it myself.

How much has it risen?

What do you mean by going hairy?

Do you guys you any other products for string care? I just wipe them down thoroughly after each session.

I think if anybody's strings turn hairy, it would be time to swap them out tongue.gif

And I do'nt think it's just with elixirs, any other would strings would be possible too.

Some guitar techs advise against using fast fret or antyhign else on your strings, apparently they might cause your frets to corrode prematurely. I've actually stopped using fast fret, I just give the strings a good wipedown when I finish playing.

biggrin.gif

I've read somewhere, maintaining anything more thatn 2-3 guitars in good playing condition is quite a nightmare. What more 6 which you have smile.gif

Are you a collector also?

It's just hearsay... but I'm trying to avoid using anything else to extend the life of my guitar strings.

That's why I"m switching to elixirs, at least they will last longer without any extra efforts smile.gif

QUOTE(echobrainproject @ May 8 2008, 03:20 PM)
well ive even heard diff string materials also have diff effects on wearing your frets out. not too sure on the details
*
Darn... I guess wear and tear is unavoidable.

QUOTE(Everdying @ May 8 2008, 03:33 PM)
it wont corrode the fretboard.
the way i see it, the fast fret since is like wax based will prevent any further moisture from getting into the fretboard.
eventually the fretboard may just dry up and crack tongue.gif
*
That sounds logical, fret boards that dry up might shrink and cause your frets to lift up and delaminate. I think I wrongly used the corrode term smile.gif

Well, one pack after 3 months is better than one pack each month. ;-)

I think he's asking if lemon oil is actually derived from lemons, or is it a synthetic chemical.

My strings just became flaky at the picking area. How do you guys get rid of that?
