Just now, i got a rush of heartbeat and adrenalin because of XiuLai, my one and only dear girl glider.

Thank God now everything is ok.

This girl dashed out in lightning speed, before i realised, she was already out of my room.

I searched high and low and couldn't find her.

My MengChai could sense my perturbance and stayed close at my side.

Then suddenly i heard my dad made a remark downstairs, "Heh, how come this thing is here?"

Then i knew this girl had gone downstairs. And guess what, she was reveling there, having sweet day playing around my dangerous marine tank.

Anytime she can get drown and become the masin fishy..

I called her but instead of responding, she started her hide and seek game with me.

Of course she is always the champion in this game!

At the moment i lost sight of her, my dad suddenly had a glimpse of her gliding in a room. Finally i could get hold of this girl by means of shutting the door of the room.

Thank goodness, i don't know how i can be at rest to go oversea without her being found..

This looks nice... sme more can manual handchopped it. By the way, from looking at this, I remembered something I wanted to ask - is KFC coleslaw and mashed potatoes, safe for gliders in small amount? For example, a teaspoon.
I've never seen my glider go to the water bottle, even after hanging there for 3 weeks now.
*
I don't know about KFC coleslaw, but mashed potatoes are definitely too high in salt content.

The nails are super sharp, that's why when run over the body, the skin like... got red red. My hands look like got cut even when they just walked passed (not bite / nip).
*
Their nails are pretty pricky, esp for people who are unacquainted with nail trimming.

As for my suggies, they can't bear even few seconds to let me trim their nails for good, so i allow them to be vampire.

Looks like nail-o-matic derives its name from the fact it's "otomatik" nail trimmer.

At first i thought it was a nail clipper in ignorance when mentioned. Far from it, now i know it's a running track for their WW, sugar glider's manual treadmill.

Would hope to hear more feedbacks from those using it.

I certainly would get one to try!

*
Hah! Congrats if it's true, cuz it will be world record.

What you mean by play at night or day...??

You can take your suggies out to play anytime, but less during the day so that they can have less interruptions in their sleep..

......

My cage project is finally going very smoothly since the last few weeks, and still ongoing, after so many times gagal...

Now i can see clearly the whole stucture now and it makes me a bit speechless..

Why? Cuz the problem is that i have only 2 small lil suggies and gonna be living in such huge realm..

Then i will need to call out to them "Hello suggies, where are you, i can't see you?" haha..

Nonetheless, they will LOVE it!

Sugar Gliders relatives

Sugar glider is intermediate in size between the tiny feathertail glider ( Acrobates pygmaeus ) and the greater glider ( Petauroides volans )

Looks like a cat!! This is Greater Glider, largest glider in the world

Looks like rat!! This is Feathertail Glider, smallest glider in the world

Notice: The top left feathertail has a feather-like tail...

Added on June 17, 2008, 6:12 pmI notice that my female glider is much smaller in size and thinner than the male..

Here's a statement i found somewhere..

Male sugar gliders tend to be larger (115-160g) than females (100-135g).

Is that the case for everybody's gliders? smile.gif

Added on June 17, 2008, 6:26 pmDuring my recent trip to China, there was this beautiful lanscape garden which was very beautiful but EXTREMELY NOISY!

I have never encountered such phenomenon before as those noise came from a type of large crickets, bigger than my finger..which stayed on tree..

This happened because "there was no sugar glider presence there"..

If my gliders are there, surely their presence will ensure the demise of these pests !
Haha..

Such as the demise of Christmas beetle due to the presence of gliders in Australian forest..

Those that died are those that are contaminated..... so is good that they died. Use a sieve that people use for flour when baking. RM2 can get already or even cheaper.

How to use sieve to screen out dead mealworms from the live mealworms? Can??

OK, so gliderslurp every morning. For evening will be fruits + dog kibble or fruit + yogurt or fruit + baby food or fruit + mealworms.

I seldom give them mealworms nowadays because mealworms always die. I dont know why. I havent figure out how to filter the mealworm poo so the mealworms in the container with spots (which is actually their poo). I gutload them with green vege and kibbles for 48 hours before feeding but by the next 48 hours (4 days after buy), many would have died even though I took out the vege and throw it away to replace a new one... Why does this happen?

Anyone can advise?
*
How come?

Only Mealworm in wet condition cannot tahan, but normally mine can last very long, kurang pun one week lebih..

early of july im gonna buy joey (when i got my salary) maybe a pair of them. (if the price are good) tongue.gif

this is a very useful topic for beginner who want to own their Suggies.

thank you for the information smile.gif
*
Make sure you don't make mistake in getting a underaged joeys? K? Joeys will come out from the pouch (OOP) after 2 months, and need nursing by their parents for another 2 to 3 months, before it's right time for you to take home.

Welcome to the pool of knowlege of suggies, a station for suggies lovers that cannot be missed.. smile.gif

Eyh! really? because i want to buy joeys from this one guy that i found on LYN too the nick is Nonono
i called and talk to him on the phone last night. he selling to me joeys that 3-4 weeks old. he said he might teach how to nursing the joeys, do u think i can believe him? he said too that its not a problem because the younger the suggies, the suggies might get to know u well
Bahah! okeh. thank you bro.
*
Nonono, i thought he's radiata fan. But anyway, you should ask for more clarification until all your doubts are settled, this is ..hmm..comsumer rights.

You shouldn't get "3 - 4 weeks joeys" but rather " 2 months OPP joeys", there is a huge difference. smile.gif

The former is 4 weeks old but the latter is 4 months..

sorryla, my explanation doh.gif doh.gif

Hey bro.. hazzy,

If the joey is seperated from their mother too young, you know what's the consequence?

They have INTERNAL problem that you can't see, such as bad immune system, improper development of digestive system etc..

Big problem you know...

It's like this. I will explain once again.

You shouldn't get 3-4 weeks old joeys. The proper age is 3-4 months or we call it 2 mths OOP.

Why 4 months?

The first two months, they are IN the pouch.

The next two months, they MUST stay with their parents, so their parents will take PROPER care of them and nurse them, not you.

Mealworms and crickets tend to get contaminated from the shops.... is not bacterial or anything... more like eating bad food... so is good that they died. The ones that are alive would need to gutload to get rid of the bad stuff and in with the good stuff. That is why we advice people to gutload for 48 hours before feeding to your gliders. This way you get rid of anything bad from their systems.
*
Jeee..thax Hun for giving this education on mealworm, i don't know that too..

silverwineus, the sieve is used to separate the mealworm poo from the mealworm. Mealworm poo is like sand ma. Sieve will work but it's hard to find a sieve that fits into a container. Most comes with a handle that can be fit into the top of a cup / bowl.

I really have no idea. They are not in a wet area. I put them next to the sink (quite far away) and I open the cover for ventilation. There is fan blowing my glider and the container to hold the mealies are just nearby. I also dunno why mine dont last for 5 days even.
*
Huh?..Those sandy substrates are mealies POO? Eiye...haha..

Hey..what coincidence. The sink, the fan and open-cover container just like the set-up in my house le..

It's quite funny..there's a fan BLOWING on your glider, it seems your gliders feel need to cool down..panas la..hehe..

But dunno la..your mealies so delicate.. smile.gif

Deionize it by spraying a little water mist on your shirt.

I came to know that using fabric softener can neutalize the static charges.

It has chemicals that have lubricant properties and are electrically conductive.

aurion,

As you mentioned your suggies clinging to your clothing,

I don't know whether all suggies like that.

During their play time in my room, if i hang just an article of worn whatever sweater ke, cloth ke..

They will be like 'takda minat' for other places except making home in that old smelly worn piece of fabric..haha..

Maybe that's normal. smile.gif

Hope you will be reuniting with Judy asap.. don't worry, time flies.
