ok here it is guys. i have new problem T_T.

this morning went for a regular service at perodua and the mechanic found somekind of MINOR leaking. he said to keep an eye on the 'minyak hitam' once a while. it isnt really that much a problem he said. the cost to repair it will be around RM500. i dont know what is the problem really coz aunt sent it while i took her car to college (she's on her day off).

so, what is probably causing this?
*
maybe gasket ?
just my guess tongue.gif

difference between aero and non-aero is the bodykit, interior trim and meter cluster color. that's all if i not mistaken. body color which available is solid white, solid red and metallic black, silver and metallic red only come in around mid of 2006.
140bhp in ej-ve should involve with engine modification as well, so i don't think this counted as BOT. item needed should be engine management system, low comm. piston, metal gasket, port n polish, engine blue print & balancing?, list goes on~
that's a forced induction setup for kenari aka turbo where a lot of people say.
my team's myvi got his real BOT without touching the engine cost him more then rm3k.

and the major service seems to be a bit expensive, u sent into perodua SC?
*
nope i send to outside shop
which parts that you think is over price?
so next time i can choose not to change at their shop

the reason i service there coz of their service and workmanship is good and neat

hence i dun mind paying abit more
but if too expensive then not worth d

ahchun,

why downgrade?

Soon I might not have to take care of customers from Japan so no need to use such a high petrol consumption car for my family. Just 4 person in my family.
*
i have been using kenari since 2005 and up to know all wear n tears.
normal belts, tyres, services include air cond.
no problem at all and now mileage is 160K d
but if u need boot space for family outing this car abit limited la. at least for me coz i got tube woofer tongue.gif
if boot space is not an issue then shld be fine for u n ur family

whr can fix aircond for kenari.. mine seems only the front stuck.. for the bottom leg there is fine.. only the front side.. all stuck.. no air cond..
*
go back to DEnso
pay abit more for service and quality.
u will feel satisfy with the money u pay.

QUOTE(cphilip @ Feb 4 2010, 10:32 PM)
once again, thanks! i needed to hear that the kenari is really fuel efficient which it should be of course as a 1.0 and also judging from it's size. yes, i also like the height. i's like a small relaxing dining room inside the car.

how does the kenari perform when it comes to hill climbing - eg genting highlands or cameron? i: happy to also know that the different models have same engines and therefore not much different except the external cosmetics. this means i can go for the colour i like. sometimes, it can happen that the colour i like is an older model.
*
i never go up Genting with my kenari b4 but cameron few times with 4 adult. no problems at all
just that u need to press the accelerator abit more than normal. 1.0L car cannot expect too much also summore with 4 big size adult tongue.gif

for me i am not sure if my kenari save fuel or not coz my hard driving
other ppl who drive kenari here can get better mileage than me
i normally get 13/14cent per km no matter its highway or city drive

You mean even when engage lower gears - 2nd gear, it is hard to climb hills like Genting Highlands?

For my unser, I usually have to engage 2nd gear and at some places 1st gear when i go up to genting. Even then, many cars overtake me but as a patient driver, i don't mind as long as I climb up that hill at my own reasonable pace.
*
with 4 adults yes even with 2nd gear u need to press harder but it will go up with no problem la
let the engine roar abit. coz normally i also drive around 4-5K rpm

Going up genting is just simple task for kenari. Lower gear used was 2nd, with 2 persons.
Kenari has weak rear springs. I think there's some mod available. Ori spring is too soft to carry 2 passenger behind.

ahchun, what are those wear n tear items u changed so far?
Mind to list them, and the $$ involved?
How bout aircon service?

Those who went to Denso, mind to share some experience?
Location, and pricing?

TQ in advance tongue.gif
*
normal wear/tear >> absorber, timing belt, fan belts, normal service, brake pads, all the liquids. some part is not broken but i prefer preventive maintenance
Denso>> i went to Kulim one price range from 80-150 depend what u do, the service is very details. not like normal shop that can do all repair and summore can service air cond.
i dun change my spring yet, i just add one a rubber stuck in the middle of the spring for each side. this to make the spring abit stiff

Hey guys! Perodua Kenari new user here! Just bought one 2003 red Aero today! Weeeee... It looks a bit plain to me. Any recommendation on what should I mod first? Hehe.
*
sorry cant help this part. no mod on my car, just change abit of ICE and car seat for my heavy a$$ tongue.gif

QUOTE(cphilip @ Feb 6 2010, 08:26 PM)
by the way, how is the kenari air cond? Some people say that it is not cold enough, is that true? if that is true, what is the best way to make it better?

Thanks!

congratulation silver. You are On the road to save lots of money by using less fuel.
*
a good tint and service ur aircond will help alot

When I test-drove mine, the air con was pretty good. And yay, can't wait to officially use it!
Yea previous owner was a lady. I've not seen how other 7-year-old cars look like but I'm pretty satisfied with the condition. Hehe.
Yea I can't wait to come back home next week (I'm leaving to Penang today for work and my Reddie is still in my hometown) and wash it in and out!
ICE means in car entertainment?

How much did u pay for your air con service?
What are the things done?

Changing gear oil is cheap, doing it every 20k km is alright. Small gear box doesn't require much oil anyway. Hehe.
*
Rm230 for the air cond service
they will remove all the old gas, take out front bumper and change the filter, add the compressor oil and clean up
then inside last time they already add extra filter for me and already KO. change those filter as well
then below thw glove box still got one thing not sure what they call tht. take out the whole thing than clean up

all this time, my air cond is service by this denso shop. not sure if over price but their workmanship and the modest/honest boss i think i dun mind paying abit more

QUOTE(mADmAN @ Feb 9 2010, 06:58 PM)
with my old b16a gearbox (which had LSD) i used to change every 10k km....whether the oil is clean or not...i still change. always kena scolding from my mechanic laugh.gif

didnt even use those LSD oil....

just used those tong drum oil and it was working perfectly.
but generally....20k km is a good time to change
*
i always monitor every 20K gear oil change since clean all the time
so i adjust it to 30K km

if got service record then it will be bonus,
if not can start with all the belt + timing belt,
all the luquids, if can flush out ur timing belts and brake oil and put new one in.
gear oil n engine oil,
plugs
brakes + bearing
pumps functionality include water pump + brake pumps
absorber check
service air cond
full service
it may cost u quite alot for first time
but it will let u have a peace of mind when driving
