I've 6 pages worth of apps and games, not including the default ones on the first page. Lagging kept to a minimum, with my suspicion on the signal strength as the culprit rather than the amount of apps installed. SMS/texting on areas with good signal strength exhibits no lag, the same with responding to LYN posts on Mobile Safari in Wifi or strong 3G signal area.

6 pages???

what about your media files?

I assume that you need to reboot your phone often.

I deleted many apps as i find them affecting my phone's performance.

Thats why i deleted monkey ball, bomberman & critter crunch after finishing them.

you know these games really consume lots of performance.

Ohh yeah, and tap tap revenge as well.

Notice that sometimes you hit on it but it still says miss?

And especially after you download all tracks from tapulous.

Izzit only my phone who has this issue, or from you guys as well?

Please lemme know. Thx =))
*
The reboots I've done are only for major installations only, after that, I've only gone into recovery mode twice. I dont see the apps affecting each other ot the phone's performance, I see the signal strength being the culprit.

I dont have these slowdown issues on mine. Apple's way of dealing with their application involves compartmentalization, they run on its own, and when you press Home, you exit the apps entirely, leaving the system resource free for new apps to launch. They do not work like Winblows Blowbile, where they are still running in the background, and having the need of task managers to completely kill/quit them. Only mandatory apps like Call/SMS/Data-related apps are retained permanently in memory, others are immediately vacated to allow the system resources consumed by them before, be reused by the next going-to-be-launched app.

Wanna check with you all, the gps in 3G phone need internet connection ON? wifi or 3G ?
*
Yes, it needs some sort of connection. The connection is needed to render the background maps, otherwise you have nothing to refer to. Also, Wifi gives only the most general of location, and may not be accurate at all, EDGE improves on that, 3G is the best. Pinpoint location is provided by GPS, and a network connection of any kind is needed to download the background map.

Recovery mode, twice?
Long time resyncing everything i guess. LOL
Your media files?

Notice,
that everyone has been discussing about the issue,
where app crashes frequently when one has too many apps on his or her iPhone,
dont yours?
I realize that the GUI doesnt work as seamless as the past,
after having so many apps at once.
No matter how, it still lags a little.

Once in a while that really annoys me.

Yes I know that when you click on the home button,
the app will stop running but it still remembers where you left out,
this is the good thing from apple, as it doesnt encourages background processing.

But I personally think that there is still some issues inside,
or else Steve Jobs wouldnt come out and say that the app crashing issue will be fixed in 2.1 in September.

Do correct me if Im wrong =))

*takes a peek at his iTunes and his connected iPhone 3G*

7 GBs of Audio, 4GBs of Video, 1GB++ of synced photos, 1GB++ of "Others", probably system files and apps. Everything behaves well with each other, only the two occasions I've mentioned before.

I blame the current iTunes version on the recent recovery modes that I have to do, regarding installing updated versions of my apps. After installing, the iPhone immediately turns itself off, and restarts itself, stuck at the Apple logo. Once iTunes 8.0 arrives this month, I hope this solves that problem.

Once downloaded ,the map stays, but you only have the map for that area and that zoom level (remember, you can zoom in, but this require additional downloads). Unless you are going to download the map beforehand, and you know you are not going to places outside the area you have downloaded, it may work. GPS is about tracking your movement, and the convenience of having it tracked accurately by the ability of zooming in/out and not having to worry about pre-downloaded areas.

Also, once your iPhone goes into its power-saving Sleep mode, the map is wiped clean. The map cache is also wiped clean after Map inactivity for a certain period of time ie; when you have not accessed it for a long time already. This is to make way for your storage for you to use inside the internal memory, the map is cached after all, not stored. So everytime you sync your iPhone, the map slate is wiped clean.

Okay, just got hit by that bug reported by American users on AT&T's 3G network.

Was waiting for buka puasa at Chili's, after settled down at the table, try surfing using 3G. Dont know why, but the signal was alternating between 3G and GPRS, and then all of a sudden, drops strength altogether! Got a couple of "No Service" notice and a weak one bar signal while on 3G. I ignored it, while continue surfing on Safari. The Aifontriji was placed on the table, so initially I could not feel how hot it was at the back of the iPhone. After what seems like 20 minutes of surfing, I lifted the iPhone, and even through the Contour iSee, it feels warm! Quickly took off the iSee, and damn, the back of the iPhone was uncomfortably hot! Turned it off, and let it cool down a bit, but in my haste I didnt take a look at the battery meter.

After letting it cool off, and after breaking fast, turn it on, and the battery meter was already at 20% and the warning message came about low power.

Now at Starbucks, charging it back. My hypothesis is that the iPhone was trying to latch on to a weka signal, and the fact that the weak signal alternates between 3G and EDGE/GPRS makes it boosts up its power to latch onto the already weak signal coverage. This further imposes a significant amount of drain on the battery, draining it beyond the ordinary rate.

The rainy condition while this was happening probably explains why the signal was weak to begin with. If I turn off 3G completely, the signal strength turns full bar, so the GSM part is okay. It is the 3G signal that needs better coverage and strength.

Just a heads-up to others, keep an eye on your iPhone.

That sounds like permanent screen damage. Lines appearing probably because of the drop. I dont any amount of rebooting or resetting would repair a row of dead pixels.

I shudder at the thoughts of the cost of replacing the screen.

guys...meaning whichevery apps i download from apps store will be back up also rite?

lets say i got 2 accounts from itunes, 1 for US store, 1 for Malaysia store. all the apps i buy from both account will be restore also rite?

Yes. The backup feature backs up everything on your Aifontrigi/Aifonej. It is advisable to at least let it back up before you to sleep at night, if you do constant changing (installing/uninstalling/moving medias about) on your Aifon.

Spore Origins released for iPhone, iPod touch
by Peter Cohen

Following its release for the iPod last week, Electronic Arts’ Spore Origins is now available for the iPhone and iPod touch. It costs $9.99 and is available for purchase and download from the App Store.

Spore Origins is based on EA’s Spore game for the Mac and PC, and is especially adapted for portable devices. The game takes its cue from the first part of the full spore game, where you control an alien life form as it evolves in a pond of primordial ooze.

You start out as a microscopic creature eating other microscopic creatures while avoiding larger creatures that can eat you. Over the course of the game you can decide how to best evolve your creature, adding offensive and defensive capabilities, parts that can help it move faster or turn better or sense things more effectively. You can also attach to symbiotes — creatures that can help you improve speed and defenses.

You can even skin your creature using pictures from your iPhone or iPod touch’s Photo Albums, use the multi-touch capabilities to pinch, pull and poke your creature, tilt and turn the screen to make your creature move, and more.

Spore Origins for the iPhone and iPod touch has two game modes and 30 levels. It’s compatible with any iPhone or iPod touch running iPhone 2.0 software.

But thank to either Streamyx's crappy connection, or Apple's incidental multiple disconnection of servers (Apple.com, Me.com, iTunes Music Store, AppStore), this game wont be available, at least for us, until this connection problem is rectified.

Called Streamyx, and as usual, they gave you funny excuses. From antivirus to firewalls on my Time Capsule, to browser configuration change to block specifically Apple.com and its entire servers. Macworld.com is also not reachable by normal means, but you can load Macworld.com via proxies.

David bro, gonna answer that Q before your post? tongue.gif UGPM btw.

Man, I'm running out of space on my 16GB, cant fit in the Sept. 9th keynote in. Deleting movies are a no-no, since I need these movies for promoting Disney to the guys at work. Sayang want to delete purchased music videos too.

Looks like the new Nano comes just in time. Put all the extras in there, and off with antother free 16GB space. biggrin.gif

I figure having an iPod Touch is just being redundant, carry a similar device together with Aifontriji. Besides the more svelte dimensions, I dont see much of an improvement over the previous version.

The Nano, on the other hand..... wink.gif

Requirement is to carry them without the encumbrance. And the dimension of the iPod Touch, on the face side, is pretty prohibitant for me to put together with the iPhone in my jeans pocket. Not for the new Nano.

Specifically to friends, and generally to everyone who have purchased Zen Pinball Rollercoaster game from AppStore, the update to that game is now available for download for free. I hope this fixes the graphical glitch that Firmware 2.1 introduced.

Good evening everyone, been a way for quite a while. And seems like there had been rumblings and discontent going around here while I was away. What did I miss?

Let's stay united and together, guys.......we are already a small number of a bunch of people, and cracking at the seams of an already small and weak foundation is not what we are looking for here.

My take on things here is easy: Take it easy. As for the noobs, when they realise that they are not entertained as easily with regards to their repetitive and answered questions, they will learn to dig things up on their own. Cruel? Perhaps. But we've already show these noobs the way, they are the ones that have to walk through the door. icon_rolleyes.gif
