Joy and happiness! My PV80 just arrived a few hours ago and I am still messing around with it. Played some DVD9's (on my new Philip upscaling player) and it's total awesome-ness.

Can't say the same for Astro though, a bit blurry, for lack of a better word.
O HD gurus of Low Yat.Net, will thou advise on how to improve it?
Does thou thinketh Monster Cable will help?
*
I am the pioneer owner of PV80h. I got it during the launch of this model. I bought it @ RM4.3k

Initially I was using a cap ayam s-video. Astro was unacceptable picture quality (but still better than LCD)

Then I bought a monster s-video and wa-la! the picture quality improved!
When you connect the cables you already can feel the build and solidness. The shielding is strong to reduce interference and noise.
The connector head is 24k gold and it will avoid corrusion.

That's the reason why I am bringing in the monster cables to sell, because I know it will definitely make our audiophile forumer happy.
Now you don't have to pay with your arms and legs for a monster cable.

I am selling it at 1/3 of the normal retail price. The stock will be arriving this week. I left 2 units available (8 reserved for Batch #2)
The first batch of 10 units was snapped up within a week.

If you are a person who appreciate quality, then monster cable will be your choice.

Found out the problem.

S-video when connected from my dvd player, no problem  biggrin.gif

S-video connected from astro decoder, no picture  vmad.gif  cry.gif

so it must be something wrong with the astro decoder s-video port. Any ideas/options anyone?

Anyone can share how much improvement in PQ when using Astro s-video port?

Using s-video connection is the best for astro. Getting a good cable like monster even give more improvement to astro PQ.
I am using pv80h with monster s-video cable, and the picture is very satisfying.

Sold the monster s-video cable to 20 buyers. So far, all are satisfied with the price they paid and the result they get.

Not sure if screen burn is a past issue on new plasma's but i will know within 1-2 months of Astro viewing  sweat.gif

I am ensure that pv80h don't have burn in issues. I am using pv90h more than 4 months.
Sometimes I even pause my dvd playback for more than 30 mins, still no sign of burn it.

pv80h is excellent for the price we are paying. Very value for your money.

Use good cable like Monster for s-video connection between your tv and astro will improve PQ.
You don't need to pay with your arms and legs for monster cable if you get from me. brows.gif

PV80H = Great Astro PQ

PV80H + Monster S-Video = EXCELLENT ASTRO PQ

I know that, because I am using PV80H and monster S-video cable.

What about heat issue on Plasma ? My current room does not install air-cond.Will heat issue affected at Plasma without air-cond ?

My pv80h does not have any heat issues. The screen is warm, but not very hot. I think no problem if you room without air-con.
